No, Iowa vs. Nebraska will be the biggest game in the state of Iowa in 3 to 5 years. I stand behind that and have said that since this talk of NU in the Big 10 started. That doesn't mean that Iowa vs. Iowa State should go away.

Iowa has played 2 rivalries in the Big 10, one of which is very competitive, and neither has taken away from Iowa-Iowa State. I've said it before, Iowa-Nebraska won't take away from Iowa-Iowa State, it will take away from Iowa-Minnesota, or Iowa-Wisconsin.

It sounds like Nebraska is looking at Wisconsin and Penn State as rivals, NOT Iowa.

Matt, you'd catch a lot less hell around here if you would just admit you don't like ISU, hate Jamie Pollard with a passion, and think we're a second rate school. It's like Hawkeye fans who won't admit they're bandwagon jumpers and would have been ISU fans if we had beaten Iowa for 15 straight years. You can deny it all you want, but it just irritates people. Just admit it. It's a lot easier to put up with hatred when the person is forthcoming about it.

Why do so many people here listen to this Matt guy, then talk about him on this board, and debate with him on this board.

He must be very good at what he does, because he seems to have a huge audience in cyclone fans.

Only place to hear loads of local college talk in the drive time home, unless you count Marty who probably has burned more bridges.

2nd - Iowa vs. Iowa State is good for the state. That's just a fact. Iowa vs. Nebraska will be a much bigger game in 3 to 5 years. That's a rivalry, in conference blood hatred. Much different type of game coming to the area than Iowa vs. Iowa State.

Again - if you quote me, quote me correctly.

in Iowa and Nebraska maybe. But don't kid yourself as early as last year I heard the hawkeyes referred to as the cyclones and visa-versa. Outside of the big 10 and Iowa, the hawkeyes still aren't anywhere close to the notoriety of the Huskers. Look at the way the local media and Hawk fans in general talked about ISU during all of this. You guys are all fooling youselves if you don't believe the general hatred isu and ui have for each other. Just from what I hear in state, this talk of NU being bigger for the hawkeyes is just a other backhanded way for you guys to console youselves on the fact the Cyclones are still going to be around.

I'm waiting for the talk to begin about how ISU will not be able to survive not having the Huskers come to Ames every other year. How our cleverly designed scheduling alternated uofi and un home games, thereby assuring us of one sell out a year. Hmmm, anyone remember UNI?

I think I figured out the disconnect. He thinks his opinions are facts. So all of his doomsday scenarios for ISU in his mind are facts. I think it is fine for him to give his opinion on any thing he wants, just don't try to claim they are facts.

:eek:That's assuming that the game is going to have much meaning, which assumes both teams will be successful, which is a huge supposition. The Big?10 may really regret this move in the long run.

:chatterbox:What a sham saying they based any of the expansion criteria on academics, plus according to the DSM rag, our tv market is larger than both the Squawks and the Huskers. NU can't hold a candle to ISU in academics or research.

:confused:It is what it is, and they'll get what they bargained for, another super-power wantabe that may finish high in the conference, but be lucky to crack the bottom of the top 10 at the end of the year. I guess they need someone besides tOSU to get embarassed in a BCS bowl game.

although we do sell out for UNI games, I'd rather not play them each year, or at all for that matter. They're usually a very good team. We really don't gain much by winning against them and if we lose, we lost to a FCS team.

I was thinking the same thing. If you don't like what he says or how he says it, turn the channel and listen to some relaxing music or another show.

Like I said in the thread that was closed the other day, I actually enjoy his show. While I don't agree with everything he says, I respect that he has an opinion about things and doesn't back down from them. That's his job...to get listeners thinking, get them talking, and/or to get them mad. He's not there to be our buddy and say everything's great when it's not.

Same goes for Deace.

I don't know. The more threads I see about Matt and the more responses I see - I'm beginning to like Matt for the simple fact that he so easily can play so many ISU fans. I find it amusing that peeps don't like him but listen anyway then come on CF and complain about him while at the same time increasing his viability and exposure in the market place. Good on you Matt.

I must confess . . I did listen to some of your show yesterday. Your Giggles at the end of the show were so sweeet. I believe tha crescendo of giggles started after your proclamed the Big XII is doomed 9-12 months from now . . you giggled like a girl being asked out for her first prom. Question: was Deeenert a "set up guest" to your new theory? I get the impression he hates the XII too?
Programming hint: try to get him away from poolside next time with all the screaming kids in the background.

If I listen and when I do .. it is out of morbid curiosity. Your kind doesn't come our way too often! Thanks for creating a nuclear winter with most of your Cyclone fan base in central Iowa. Outstanding way to market yourself and your sponsors. I am fascinated by your reckless indifference and hostility to your potential fan base.

Iowa v Ne will be a big game on a national basis if both teams are good. NE has been pretty mediocre since Solich was fired. Iowa State v Iowa will always be the biggest game of the year for the State of Iowa. What other series do you know of that was suspended for (I am guessing on the number) 40 years or so because of the hatred between the schools? NE v Iowa will never have that level of dislike.

Honestly, now that I know Home Depot is a sponsor of his show . . I will always spend my money at Lowes. So while you seem to think his effective provocation of his potential fan base is brilliant . . Home Depot may think otherwise as the little people vote with their wallets.

I have NEVER said Nebraska brings TVs...I said they bring a national brand - which can brings eyes to TV sets around the country....but Omaha is market 72 for TV. That's not TVs. The entire state has 1.9 million people....that's not TVs.

Again, hearing what you want to hear.

Id like to add that he does do a LIVE radio show. How many of you talk to your friends about sports, and then change your mind or start thinking a different way? Im guessing everyone unless your a duesher. No way you can speak live out loud every day on emotional topics and not ever make someone mad or say something that you change your stance on. They cover a lot of content and if you dont like the damn show, dont listen. you people that keep throwing yourselves into the fire are ********.

O and ps I dont care if a local radio show host hates ISU, it makes it that much more fun. Stop being a bunch of whiney girls in middle school.

This. People will read these boards, think "I gotta check out what all the fuss about this Matt guy is," then tune in, get used to the show, and BAM...higher ratings.

Really, MattyP? You NEVER said this had nothing to do with TVs?

I did read it. Straight pandering. This has NOTHING to do with Iowa State's record on the playing field....not one single thing. This is about $ and TVs. That's it.

Hmmm . . I didn't know my radio had a transponder in it? Unless you've been called by some marketing survey team? My wallet votes for me.

You specifically said yesterday that Nebraska convinced the Big 10 that they could bring the KC market. You then agreed because of the proximity and there are alot of NU fans in KC.

Thanks for the lecture on sponsorship. Nevermind you completely missed the point I was making.
