Spoiler Alert: Uniform update

Those uniforms were godawful and unless they're done right next time I hope we never use them again.

And the above is why ISU can never develop a nationally-recognized identity. Always making up lame-*** excuses to change our logo and identity. The I-State logo is a nationally recognized identity - I was at a Philadelphia Flyers game yesterday representing ISU and a guy asked me how I thought ISU was going to do in the tournament this year. Besides, just because YOU associate the logo with Chizik doesn't mean everyone associates the logo with Chizik. And while Chizik wanted a change, this was Pollard's baby.

I-State needs to stay. We finally have something the rest of the nation recognizes and is unique to us.

Never winning anything is why they don't have a brand identity.
I think pushing the cyclone logo would be more effective. I don't care much either way but I think the current logo is pretty limited visually

The Jack trice throwbacks aren't even the correct Trice colors. Such a fail.

What do you mean? Correct colors for Trice era, or correct colors for our current scheme?

Regardless, I actually love those colors. Much better "gold" than I've ever seen for ISU. The "cardinal" is darker than just red, which I also like. I agree the white numbers aren't the best, but pretty sure those were due to NCAA uniform rules.

False.

We won plenty in both football and basketball with the whirlybird logo. People always thought it was Illinois State.

Even before Hoiberg took over and we started winning in basketball, I'd wear my I-State stuff around the Detroit metro and everybody knew it was Iowa State.

I wasn't talking about bird in a blender, but an updated cyclone tornado logo

Trice wore yellow. The only red was his number on back. Kagavi has put this to rest.

(and for the record, that tornado logo sucks and represents the losingest era in Cyclones sports history)

Who cares. The logo doesn't dictate success which was my point. And last I checked, this era hasn't been killing it either.

I heard (from Kagavi) that these will be our opening uni's this year, until the staff can get the ones they want from Nike, Addidas, Under Armour, or K-Mart...

Or maybe these...(circa 1959)

Joking of course...but I do like Kagavi's history, and the likely true Trice replica (color-wise), above.

Obviously I do not know how these things work, but could someone again explain: 1) who we have our uniform contract with? 2) why do we need a uniform contract w/ Nike, Addidas, other? 3) why can't we just design and build/order our own uniforms, the way we want them to be? Sure it has to do w/ money, sponsorship, etc. Someone, awhile back explained it somewhat, but could we have it again please?

1) Nike
2) we have a contact with Nike because they pay us money to wear their stuff.
3) yes we could design our new uniforms but why would we. Nike pays us money for free uniforms they give us. Tell our basketball team that they can't get new shoes because we want to invent our own jerseys. We get input on the jerseys and Nike gives Suggestions on color and patterns. We signed an agreement to wear free stuff while they pay us.
