Speculation that Osama Bin Laden killed

This is something I have wrestled with for many years now. I don't have all of the answers. I think if we show them kindness over and over again, they will eventually be won over. They might think of us as pushovers at first, but I truly believe they would come around.

Look at the history of all human civilization. People don't change all of a sudden. Sorry to say it, but kindness does not work. The strong survive.

I apologize if I have sounded too idealistic. I realize love will not always win out, but that doesn't mean I don't think it's the correct approach. All I can tell you is that fighting violence with violence will never create true peace. As long as we kill people, people will be angry with us and want to hurt us.

I'm only 24 but I think I have given up on seeing world peace. There's too many people out there like Bin Laden or Kim Jeong Il for us to ever achieve peace.

And then they realize most of us don't have the same religion as them and that we are all infidels and that since we are so soft and cuddly and lovey dovey that it will be easy for them to attack us since we appear not to be confrontational.

Honest question for you. How does this love and kindness theory work for you in nature, it's survival of the fittest, it applies in nature as well as society.

Go ask some European countries how they felt about trying to be friends with Germany before world was II.

I don't think that's a very comprehensive view of freedom. Freedom is also about every day decisions. Many Chinese students have no choice on what subject they study in college or where they attend college. Most cannot speak out against the government. Most couples were limited to having 1 child. They are also not allowed to talk about their Christian faith to young people (and sometimes older people) without having the fear of persecution. These are just a few examples.

I think it is. If you don't like it, leave. It's just like the guy who dislikes his job and you have to hear about it all the time.

At least they can become educated. What can women do in a place like Iran? They aren't allowed to talk about it, but they can hold a Christian faith, correct? I just don't view China as a highly suppressive country. I realize there are limitations but it's not comparable to the Middle East as we know it.

My best friend is a sniper in Afghanistan being shot at every day by the terrorists I think he has pretty good insight too. I'll take military insight.

The reason they are shooting at him is because he is there with a gun. My point exactly.

I admire your view, I really do, but it isn't realistic. You don't think any of those people who they have killed have tried the "nice" approach? It doesn't work with these people. I really wish everyone had the outlook and the thought you have. The world would be better for it but it simply will never ever happen. There are always going to be these people. They only way is to end it is in death. Is that idea sad? Sure it is. I don't intend or wish to ever have to kill anyone but if you could throw me back to 2000 and tell me if you kill Osama Bin Laden 9/11 will never happen but you will spend the remainder of your life in prison or you will receive the death penalty, I would do it without asking a question. Of course, that is hindsight in a sense (but not really because it wasn't his first attack) but it's the best I can do.

Women have more restrictions in the Middle East, but both places have limited freedom as a whole.

The folks in the WTC weren't armed.

It would be great if you were right, but you're just being naive. That sniper isn't in Afghanistan on vacation toting around a sniper rifle and the gear. That sniper is there because Bin Laden and his guys kill innocent people, and meant to kill a whole lot more than they managed to kill.

You're placing the blame in the entirely wrong direction. It's a very weak argument.

I love your idealism and goals.

However, thousands of years of human history have shown that the bolded statement above just isn't true. I wish the world worked that way, but it doesn't.

It works like the scene in Les Miserables where the thief is caught and the priest undermines him with love.

Do you honestly think that if you were just some plain old American Joe walking around Afghanistan offering hugs to the terrorists you wouldn't be shot at or killed on sight too. Actually they would hold you hostage and try to negotiate with the US before they decapitate you.

These people attacked us on our soil with 9/11 and we weren't pointing a gun at them then. These people hate us regardless if we have a gun or not.

I await your next ridiculous comment.

So if my friend was there with a bible and a teddy bear in his hand they wouldn't be shooting at him?

Not quite what missionaries do. More like there living among them, respecting their language and culture, contributing something positive to their society, helping the local people.

So animals in nature undermine each other with love. I'll remember that next time I see two bull elk fighting. I will watch and wait for one to offer the other a flower and a hug so he can go breed all the waiting cow elk.
