Some rough thoughts from my Gopher neighbor

That was my reaction too. That has happened at the last two games I have gone to in the Dome. This year vs Dallas and last year vs Seattle, they had the same pee-wee game last year with the mascots.

Just saw the Mascot vs Kids clip on Youtube from the 2008 game, and Herky was at that one as well. Strange.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Last years team didn't deserve to go to a bowl and neither did our opponent.

You're looking at our entire history of bowl wins and counting last year, which until recently, would never have happened because average or worse teams didn't get to go to bowls.

Historically speaking, last years bowl should not be on equal footing as those we went to prior, when bowls meant something.

It's a watered down mess, now, where 1/2 or over 1/2 the teams get to go.

It's just like Iowa bragging about a 10 win season...yes, technically it's a 10 win season, but you now play 12 regular season games. New Years bowls are another thing that no longer mean anything, yet if we ever make it to on, even a sucky one, look for every person on here to have it in their sig.

I think Danny Mac coined the phrase "Bowl Championship", to make it sound as though it actually meant something. It doesn't, anymore.

Whether you think bowl appearances and bowl wins mean anything or not, you can't discredit the job this coaching staff did last year. That senior class had seen us go from 4-8 to 3-9 to 2-10 and was under their third coaching staff. The program was not in good shape, and we were in danger of falling back down to the level of the pre-McCarney days.

This staff came in and got us back on track right away. This year has been difficult for a number of reasons, including a horrendously difficult schedule and a small number of upperclassmen, but we've still beaten two teams that are better than everyone we beat last year other than Nebraska. We're making progress. People just have to be patient, which is NOT the same as complacency.

Remember, the 2000 Cyclones won nine games, which is the most in Iowa State history. Nine wins for Oklahoma is considered a down year. We're not yet above being proud of bowl victories.

Sure they can. There are plenty of ***holes on this board that claim to be ISU fans who never miss an opportunity to disregard the fact that we scored more points against TTU than we have scored on anyone in the Big XII ever and would rather focus on the beating we took from the #1 team in the nation.

So both Cy and Herky were there? Considering one of the vids on Youtube had the other Minnesota mascots there (TC et al), I'm assuming they were pulling together mascots from the pro teams and college teams that make up the Vikings fanbase?

Yes, they had Cy and Herky. Also they had couple of mascots (one was a syringe LOL ) that I am not familiar with.

Nebraska had 6 turnovers the week before vs Texas Tech. Did anyone say how lucky Tech was to get those? We caught NU at the right time and made them pay. Also, AA and A-Rob were out. ISU won with their #2 RB and #2 QB. Great WIN for ISU.

That was not Cy, that was my first thought as well but they introduced him as the Arizona Cardinals Mascot and his jersey showed as much. It was a disappointment.
