Soares Commits

So is she is back to top form or "Ayoka Lee-type form" was my concern. I saw she did very well as POTY. Like Ayoka, they can be a star but as the game, or season, wears on things get a little tough and a fade occurs. She is slighter in build and less weight on a knee is good.

Well on the bright side, any output near 61 would be nice!
Her minutes only went up as the season went on, so I consider that a good sign.

Nice addition, we definitely need the help in the paint. Can't teach 6-6 height. Looks to have some good athleticism, hopefully she adjusts to Big 12 play and fills a need.

I know we've got Jordao has Kane announced either way I've forgotten. But having Jordao to help bring her up to speed will help a lot I hope.

Son of a gun this is a heck of a get I believe. I was already looking forward to next season and this just ads to it.

This is the exact kind of pick up the team needed. She's got such high upside at the one place ISU needed it most to potentially crack that upper tier. Not a guarantee but that potential is there.

Yes, jumping from NAIA to the B12 isn't gonna be easy, but it's not like Soares came from nowhere basketball-wise either. Big time recruit and has played in international competition. Maybe she'll never have played against the quality of individual defenders she will in the B12, but she's also probably never had as little defensive attention as she will with the guards this ISU team has. Plus, she's been absolutely dominant at the NAIA level. Not like we're hoping solid play translates to solid play a few levels up, even with a drop-off in numbers due to the jump she can absolutely be a big part of a great year.

Just think about this: she can say **** you in Portuguese to the refs and get away with it!

Kane will a Senior and could have another w Covid. Jordao was a Senior and can use her Covid year, I believe. Would guess they’d both be back.

So how many open scholarships do we currently have? Is the other 6'6 forward still in play?
The biggest potential roster crunch is in 23-24, where we only have one remaining open scholarship if both Kane and MEM opt to take a COVID year. Soares doesn't affect that since she's only around in 22-23, where we still have three more scholarships available after Soares and Dawkins.

Given her background saying "I'll pray for you" might be more appropriate... and sting more lmao.

Seriously so excited for her to be a Cyclone.
Agreed.... but we all know basketball refs earn the good ol' FU from time to time.

I'm actually ok with this, sure it's not perfect but we've got a really strong team coming back and even that year there are a lot of good parts.

I would be very surprised if MEM would take a Covid year considering all of the issues she has with her legs. I am just hoping that she can somehow get healthy for next year.
