So who could we get?

.....

With that said, here's some options in no particular order:

Jim Leavitt: Former South Florida coach
Pat Narduzzi: Current Michigan State DC
Doug Meacham: Current TCU co-OC
Craig Bohl: Current Wyoming HC (not near as high on him as others)
Bret Bielema: Current Arkansas HC (we'd only get him if he's fired and is desperate)
Doc Holliday: Current Marshall HC
Ed Warinner: co-OC and o-line coach at Ohio State

OK list, except for the ex-Hawkeye. Still remains one of the biggest jerks ever to visit Jack Trice.

Hiring Scott Frost imo, is hiring Kliff Kingsbury. Young guy who could easily be in over his head early.

I'd be looking at an FCS head coach that is quickly rising up the ranks. Texas ties preferred.

Late to the party so SIAP but what about Sweater Vest?

For a young guy it's Frost.
For an ex HC who's not Vest I like Leavitt (NFL connections...)

I honestly like Bielema as a hire. He genuinely hates his rivals and I respect that. I mean, I hate that fat dutch mother****er but could see him doing okay in Ames...

Nah, Frost is serious and smart and from the Osborne tree. Kliff is a dudebro from the Pirate's tree, not serious enough.

Who has done that - quit making stuff up. And I have never posted that Mac should have been retained. Something went wrong at the end.
But I have posted that when you fire a coach, make sure you hire someone better to replace him. And in Chizik and now CPR, Pollard hasn't done that.

If CPR is so bad, why did you try to link your hero to him when everybody loved him.

The 2003 and 2006 teams were far far worse than last year and this year. I get that you think enough time has passed, and everyone hates the coach that you can try to make people think Mac was some kind of great coach. It's extremely extremely pathetic, especially in light of the private comments he's made about Iowa State.

3-50 vs ranked teams, all you need to know.

Wait? You're trying to use this as an argument? Rhoads 4 wins over ranked teams sure is super impressive. 2 of those ranked teams couldn't even win 6 games and reach a bowl game. What a comical point to try and make.

It's almost pointless dealing with you anymore, but that had nothing to do with CPR only in that much like you have an unhealthy obsession with hating the current coach, he has an obsession with trying to make Dan McCarney something he was most definitely not, a great football coach.

Oh and of the ranked teams he did manage to beat, at least Nebraska fell off that list Seneca ' s senior year. I should remember the others since they were so few, but I can't. I think mizzu was his last game too, Colorado in the Tornado game maybe?

I just brought it up because it was just a silly point for you to even make. I know you have a deep hatred for McCarney and get a stiffy when Rhoads is ever brought up.

I don't like men that beat women if that's what you mean. He was pretty awful on the sidelines. For all of the bad luck, tradition, etc that Iowa State has in football, he caught the amazing break of everybody getting bad at the same time. He had the best team in the division in 2005, and had he just won the 10 games they should have, he would probably still be here today.

You all want to cry about Saturday's analing, to me Baylor in 2005 is far more inexcusable.

But even though he was terrible (winning an OT coin flip, and taking the ball first, and then telling a national magazine that he didn't understand the rules was the all time high), and he made my skin crawl, when he was the coach of my favorite team, I actually rooted like hell for him to win every game. Unlike some people

Man, the constant ****-measuring between Mac apologists and Rhoads apologists sure gets old.

Both men have achieved successes and both have had shortcomings. Yeah, it'd be great if Dan had won all the games he should have in 2005, or not let his #9 national ranking burn like poop on a doorstop. Yeah, it'd be great if Paul had won all the games he should have in 2010 and 2012, and not made some poor personnel decisions along the way. Both have won some big games, beaten the Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers, won bowl games (which no other coach in ISU history can say), and chased the Top 25 rankings. And both have had some significant letdowns that have destroyed any momentum they had accrued.

We all want what's best for this school, the players, and the people that make Iowa State a great place and Ames a great community. I don't have an answer to how to fix ISU football and make it consistently successful. The fact that it hasn't been done in 100+ years suggests that it's really hard (not impossible). But it does seem pretty dumb for us to abuse each other just to win an argument on the internet.

Rhoads and Mac are both pretty terrible coaches. Like what's the debate?
