Anyone else see Shawn at the game today? My daughter and her friends did. They asked if they could get a picture with her and she was a snotty brat about it. It was like "Ughhh... Ok, whatever" and then they asked about an autograph, she's like "no, I don't really want to." She did not impress me at all. Anyway she was sporting here alliance to the Hawks, unfortunately as seen in the picture. She kinda has a flat head and pistol grip ears if you know what I mean and she could pass for 9 year old.

I know being an Iowa fan makes her the devil in your eyes, but many celebrities don't sign autographs in situations like that, plus she did let them take the picture. Give the girl a break.

Did see her.

And I would hate being a celebrity just because if you go out in public, you have exactly zero chance of being able to be a teenager. Nothing against your daughter or any other young kids, but it would be very annoying to have to sign autographs and take pictures constantly just to please others and not enjoy yourself.

I read that and I was all like, "No way," and then I tried to click on the link and Facebook was like "you don't have permission to view that" and I was all like, "uggh, whatever." Totally.

Yeah but Erin from HyVee said that shawn johnson was a great iowan ...well maybe Erin meant that shawn was a great hawkeye!!!!!

You know how many times she must get asked for pictures/autographs?

Doesn't matter...she put herself in this position and she seems a bit full of herself. Saw her snub her own high school friends at that state fair. Pretty sad if you ask me. Oh well, her 15 minutes are about up.

Holy crap some of you make a HUGE deal out of nothing.

She put herself in the position of being a world class gymnast so she isn't allowed to do her own thing? She isn't allowed to have her own life and must please the public at all times? I kinda have an issue with that.

If she isnt up for getting pics and giving autographs..then she isnt ready to be a star..nuff said..suck it up johnson

agreed ... if she doesn't want to be bothered she should ask/pay for a field pass or get her own lux. box to be able to "enjoy" herself and not be bothered during the game ... like it or not she has put herself in this position and been characterized as a "role model" for all young girls throught the united states yet alone her own state ....

That's why they are called opinions. And like it or, the answer is yes. No one forced her to be on DWTS and the other crap she's done. Comes with the territory.

Becky your wrong here she is a celeb and with that comes the fruits and the spoils.... they have to deal with it. unless they are relentless and rude

For ****** sake, threads like this really **** me off. Obsessing over Shawn Johnson being a Hawkeye fan makes us Cyclone fans look like a bunch of frakkin' morons with an inferiority complex.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; if Shawn Johnson came out in public as being a Cyclone fan, half of the damn people complaining about her being a Hawkeye would be ready to name a street in Ames after her. As for her refusing to sign autographs, give her a break. She is a teenage girl first, celebrity second.

Seriously, for all the Shawn Johnson haters on this site who feel the need to tell the rest of us just how much they hate her, GET A LIFE. You're embarrassing me and yourselves.

Ummm, no one cares if she's a hawk or not...

Please let the filter do its job.

I am in the meh category with Shawn. Could care less really.

But when you put yourself in the limelight, and do ads to make money off being famous, and go on Dancing With the Stars, well, you are going to be bothered when in public. Suck it up.

I was sick of Shawn Johnson long before I learned she was a hawkeye but now that I know, it all makes sense.

I find some of the preconceived notions in this thread interesting--you can tell that this is Iowa.

Lots of celebrities choose to only sign autographs at organized functions for that purpose (especially sports celebs), some even decline to ever sign photographs.

Let's see, 52,000 people at the game, how many do you suppose had already asked her for autographs from the moment she parked her car?

Then there seems to be an presupposition that a person has a "right" to ask for an autograph. True enough, and the recipient of such a request also has a corresponding "right" to refuse. Why not respect that, and move on?
