Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

I cheer for Kansas in the non-con so they make the Big 12 look better. They can lose every other game from the start of January.

Losing in March makes the Big12 look worse than losing before Jan. For instance I had no Idea that the Big12 was 3-7 vs the BigTen this year. Nobody even knows or remembers that. Now if Kansas, Baylor and WVU flames out in the NCAA that hurts the perception of the Big12.

Who cares? I root for KU in the non conference because it helps our seeding. How they perform in the tournament doesn't directly effect us at all

We already have our seed by then. People barely remember the Champions, I couldn't tell you who was runner up the last 5 years.

You can say it hurts the Big 12, but every year March comes and everyone (outside of Big 10 fans) thinks the Big 12 is a top 2 conference.

I wasn't talking to you. He said he wanted them to Win for "perception". I simply pointed out that people remember the NCAA more than non conference games.

Nobody thinks the Big12 conference is good in the NCAA's because it has been really really bad. Only 33 wins combined in the last 5 years.

And we got a 4 seed with 11 losses last year and a 5 seed with 10 losses this year so why does it matter when it doesn't effect us?

I don't care about how they do at that point, I used to when I was younger and dumber and ISU sucked during the McD year's, but now I realize how worthless your conference doing in the tournament is.

Last year, ISU got the 4 because of the Big 12 conference performance during that season. I didn't even think they would get that 4 seed, thought it was a 5 for sure, but the Big 12 being so good in the non-con is what jumped them up a line. The committee doesn't evaluate on the past, they evaluate on the current year, and the Big 12 has proven to be a top 2 conference the past few years, which has elevated ISU to 3, 3, 4, and 5 seeds.

At this point the rest of the Big 12 could lose the first game and we're still a 5 seed.

Connor is a kid who was advanced skill wise for his age when he was a freshman sophomore and being a coaches kid had a good basketball IQ. however, the kids with athletic ability and not the skill set yet have caught up to him and all started passing him.
I think they learned their lesson on Pat.

Well all that great seeding isn't helping the Big12 win games in the NCAA.

It's helped us get 2 Sweet 16's in 3 years when we only have 5 in school history, so I'll take it.

I'll let you in on a secret. ISU earned this seeds, not the Big12. You guys are giving way to much credit to your conference and not enough to your teams.

What seed is ISU this year if they don't have the chance to knock off KU, Baylor and WVU. We sucked in the non-con this year, Big 12 needed to provide us big wins, and it did.

Are you dumb? I'm not trying to be mean but how can you not follow along here? Non conference helps seeding, NCAA helps nothing. If ISU loses in the first round but the WVU and KU play in the Championship game it is not going to make me feel any better

Conferences establish their strengths in the non conference. There's no other way to determine it once January begins and there are no more non conference games.
