Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

A couple Sweet 16's, one where we get lucky by having an upset in out bracket and all of a sudden we are on those teams level.

We were going to make the Sweet 16 regardless when the bracket came out. We were playing at such a high level we would have crushed Purdue. I actually wanted Purdue to win, would have been like playing Notre Dame all over again

I dont have time to go back and read 4 pages ago, sorry, I took your post out of context then.
No harm no foul, just didn't want anyone to think I was comparing Iowa State to the likes of Kansas and North Carolina.

The arrow next to the name of the quoted post takes you back to the post they were commenting on. Just for future reference;)

No offense, but you need to think before you post. First of all when have we won 2 Big 12 championships in the last 6 years? And when did we go to 2 Sweet 16's in a row?

Your comparison doesnt make sense anyways. BCS games are a reward for an entire seasons body of work, making the Sweet 16 is an indication of winning 2 games, some of which might be against low seed teams like Little Rock who pulled off huge upsets. Its not even a good comparison at all.

I slipped on the back-to-back part (but had it correct in the previous posts), but the rest of it is legit. No matter how hard you or your Hawkeye friends try to discredit my posts. Our last 6 seasons have put our program in a place to be recognized nationally. College basketball fans know about the program and have knowledge of our players. If you mention Hilton Coliseum to fans from across the country, they'll know of the place. We're on the basketball map now.

We were? We were 5-5 in our last 10 games going into the tournament including an exit on Day 1 in KC. I dont know how anyone could argue we were rolling into the tourney.

Georges Niang. What he did from KC until the end was incredible. Saying we got lucky to make the Sweet 16 is incredibly stupid even for you

How else do you compare the accomplishments of basketball to football? We're talking relevancy here. ISU's success over the last 6 seasons is unmatched by a given 6-year period of Iowa football. This all started because my post was considered delusional, but with no backing.

If you are talking about what program is more nationally relevant now it is Iowa football. We were like 40 seconds from playing in the College Football playoff in 2015. That is like losing in the Elite Eight when the other team hits a 3 with 10 seconds left after ISU was leading the entire last 10 minutes of the game.

I agree with all that about Iowa State, I just dont know how you can say that and then dismiss Iowa's performance in football over the last 40 years in comparison.

I didnt say we got lucky, I said we got an easier draw than we would have. If you think playing Little Rock was scarier than playing Purdue I dont know what to say anymore.

Niang was doing that for 4 years anyways, you act like he became some great player the last 2 weeks of his career.

Because of your lucky schedule. Definitely carried a fake ID

If getting to Sweet 16s are lucky, I'm OK with judging programs by regular season success. Iowa State has earned seeds of 9, 10, 3, 3, 4, and 6 most likely. That stretch would likely put them in the Top 15 of all programs as well.

You literally said exactly that.
