Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Kentucky made the NIT within the last 5 years. Michigan St. is on the Bubble right now. . Arizona didn't have much consistent competition in the PAC til recently, lost to Wichita St. last year first round, and didn't even make it 2012.

Kansas, North Carolina, and Duke fit your mold for elite the best, but even they have first weekend exits sprinkled in every other/third year or so.

I'm sorry but just because weve been to 6 tournaments in a row doesnt make us a blue blood. Start winning some Big 12 titles instead of finishing 3 or 4 games behind Kansas in 4th place or make a Final Four or even a couple Elite 8s during that time and Ill see things differently.

Kind of an apples to skateboards comparison, isnt it?

And as @CyTwins would say, take the football talk to the football thread.

I'm fine with people talking about how much better ISU basketball is than Iowa football since it's still basketball talk in a basketball thread

Woah woah woah. When did I ever say Iowa State was a blue blood???

That guy is ridiculous, hes comparing 6 years of making the tournament to Iowa's 3 Rose Bowls and Big 10 championships in the 80's, not to mention Ferentz making a bowl game what like 16 out of the last 18 years with 3 BCS games mixed in?

What in the holy **** are you talking about? Did you just become an ISU fan 6 years ago? This is almost as bad as the Jackson is better than Jok statement.

So, Iowa football has a stretch of being ranked for nearly 60 consecutive weeks? They've won the Big Ten 2 consecutive years, and gone to back-to-back BCS bowl games (using that as the equivalent to the Sweet 16) all within a given 6 year period? The answer in "no".

How else do you compare the accomplishments of basketball to football? We're talking relevancy here. ISU's success over the last 6 seasons is unmatched by a given 6-year period of Iowa football. This all started because my post was considered delusional, but with no backing.

No offense, but you need to think before you post. First of all when have we won 2 Big 12 championships in the last 6 years? And when did we go to 2 Sweet 16's in a row?

Your comparison doesnt make sense anyways. BCS games are a reward for an entire seasons body of work, making the Sweet 16 is an indication of winning 2 games, some of which might be against low seed teams like Little Rock who pulled off huge upsets. Its not even a good comparison at all.

Kentucky has also won a National Title, finished runner up 2 times, won the SEC three times and had four final fours in the last six years.

Michigan St. has been to two Final Fours, three elite eights, and five Sweet 16s including winning one Big Ten Championship in the last six years.

Arizona has won the Pac 12 three times, been to three elite eights and four Sweet 16s in the past six years.

Its extremely similiar to Iowa's stretch of football from 2001-2006.

I don't think that those teams are not elite, I just think your criteria is a bit grey. I was just proving that even elite teams can not make the tournament and get knocked out in the first round.

It's funny watching Iowa fans take the bait.

A couple Sweet 16's, one where we get lucky by having an upset in out bracket and all of a sudden we are on those teams level.

Then what were you trying to prove by showing a list of the blue bloods followed by an analysis that most of them have had couple bad years in the last 6?
If you would read our back and forth you'd know it's because he was saying that Blue Bloods are teams that make deep tournament runs and are consistently winning their conference. I was proving that even elite teams can have a bad season, didn't think I was being that unclear about it. I can have an opinion on things other than Iowa State
