Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

I think they have a decent shot with 1 win in the Big10 tourney. The Bubble is very weak and the committee alway loves to get as many Big 10 teams in as they can.

They'll need two for sure at minimum, maybe 3. They'll probably lose their first game anyways

They need 2 wins for a toss up, 3 to be in, 1 is NIT. They have a 74 RPI right now and Indiana isn't going to move the needle at 81. The lowest RPI to ever make it was 67, Indiana won't get them in. They're going to need to beat Maryland as well to even have a shot.

Iowa will play Wisky if they make it to Friday.

You either have really dumb friends or you are lying.

I know I know, your friends are super connected with the Iowa Athletic Dept.

Not the AD really they are super connected to the administrative wing and to the other people that also have their families names on buildings on campus. Some of those people are very well connected to the AD.

No, read my post 7851. Iowa isn't going to be the lowest RPI ever to make the tourney, which is what they would be with 1 win. I will bet any amount of money they are not in with one win. 2 and they could be.

I'd like to hear from @AltHawk since he disagrees with my assessment.

Two wins gets them in IMO. At that point they would have 6 RPI top 50 wins and an RPI around 64. The RPI would be low enough that the number of quality wins would push them ahead of other teams with better RPIs but fewer quality wins.

Ultimately I don't think it matters, because I don't think Iowa will beat Indiana.

64 is the 2nd lowest RPI to ever make the tourney, I guess I appreciate your optimism. Still not sure how you disagree with my post when I said 2 gives them a shot and 3 is in, but not everyone knows as much about college basketball as me.

You said they would need to beat Maryland to even have a shot, but they wouldn't play Maryland until the semi-finals. Unless you erroneously thought they would play Maryland in the 2nd round of the BTT, that is something I disagree with. I also disagree that 2 wins is a toss-up. I think 2 win some gets them in unless every bubble team makes a run or there are multiple bid stealers from conferences like the WCC.

Iowa has the quality wins to get in, its just the RPI that's holding them back. 2 wins in the BIG tournament and they get in. If they go 0-1 then NIT if 1-1 then its a toss up.
I think this is probably the situation. 0 wins = NIT, 1 win = First 4 out, 2 wins = Last 4 in: 12 seed, 3 wins = in at 11 seed. Their issue is Indiana doesn't move the needle at all. A close win over them does absolutely nothing for the committee. They then have to turnaround and face Wiscy, whom you would think would be pretty motivated but strange things have happened. Iowa has played their way from an NIT #7 to NIT #2 seed, so they should get a home game or two now.

Two weeks ago, everyone here said Iowa had NO CHANCE at the NCAA. Most were openly mocking Jon Miller for even laying out the case for Iowa to make the NCAA.

Iowa has played themselves squarely into the NCAA tournament conversation. Lose to IU and Iowa is out, beat IU and Iowa could possibly be in. Beat IU and
Wisconsin and they are for sure in.

So, two weeks ago you were predicting Iowa to beat both Maryland and Wiscy on the road? I figured that was a 1-100 shot not knowing how bad those teams actually were.

Iowa beat Maryland and Wisconsin for the same reasons they beat ISU. They are a good team that is just young and has some growing pains like young teams will.

ESPN had it wrong but a 64 RPI is a tossup

Beat IU and get in and they would be lowest RPI ever to get in.

Iowa has no chance to make the NCAA Tournament

I know you're trolling like usual but come on.

They have a somewhat decent chance to make it. Indiana isn't exactly good right now and whomever they play after that will be beatable. Win those two, they're in.

They have no chance of winning two in the Big Ten Tournament
