Is ISU's ceiling as good or better than Iowa's? On any given night, absolutely. ISU can beat anyone in the country when playing at their best. But unless the bench starts producing beyond Burton, I wouldn't place any bets on them stringing together a series of games at their best.
That said, Iowa's got their flaws, too. At their best, I think they can also beat damn near anyone. And their bench play has allowed them to play with more consistency than ISU has this year. But right now Woody is the only true big on the roster (Wagner is playing well of late, but we'll see where he's at in a few weeks) and his defense/rebounding is critical. I thought Purdue would expose that lack of post depth with all their size, but their guard play is so weak that Iowa could focus almost entirely on containing the bigs. Maryland is Purdue with great guard play, and even though Maryland didn't shoot well, their guards are too good to not focus on, which opened up space for the frontcourt players against Woody. When he got into foul trouble and had to sit, it got really ugly inside.
