I'll answer the tavernhoks question. It's a reference to the legions of Iowa fans that lustily root for the hoks but never attended the school and have no particular reason to root for the hoks other than the fact that they can't think for themselves (or generally think at all) and "go hoks". aka trailerhoks. Similar to Walmart Wolverines.
9.2ppg on 35% shooting is actually bad, you realize that right? Plus he's probably the worst defender in the country
I think 11-7 is now attainable. 10-8 would be 2-3 the rest of the way, and I don't see that happening.
Pretty neat how you left out turnovers, that's a pretty useless stat when it comes to grading a PG. If you know anything about Monte's freshman year, then you would understand that his role was to merely facilitate because he was surrounded by scorers. You would also know that Kane played the point just as much as Monte did. You are comparing apples and oranges.
What about if you grew up being an Iowa fan? Like your family has been Iowa fans since who know when so you were just born into being an Iowa fan. Is that a tavernhok?
I'm sure, actually I know, there are Iowa State fans who are Clones fans, who never attended Iowa State. Does that make them tavernclones?
Plus, I've never understood why just because you didn't attend a University you can't root for them? Having more fans of your team is a good thing, right? I mean, I doubt Michigan, or Texas, or the Cowboys, or the Cubs are like, man we got to get rid of all these fans we have....
All I'm getting at is Jordan Bohannon is having a fine or average year. That's it.
This does not exist. If it did, they would not allow them to be part of the fanbase.
For the record, I am an Iowa grad.
Monte and Matt shot the ball 5 times a game as a freshman. Bohannon shoots the ball 9 times a game

The problem is that he seems to have already reached his pretty low ceiling. Unless Iowa, somehow, finds a point guard that can handle and distribute the ball, he's always going to be a below average point guard that can't play defense. His best position would be as a spot-up 3 point shooter coming off the bench, which also happens to be Ellingson's best position. Additionally, Ellingson has the extra size to allow him to occasionally get off a, sort of, contested shot.

"Tavernhok" is a more-derogatory (and specific) variant of “t-shirt fan.” T-shirt fans are basically those who have no connection to their team/school/season ticket holder and throw on their t-shirt and watch the game at home, if at all. “Tavernhok” equates the (large) subset of Hawk t-shirt fans who act like the loud arrogant fans you find in the bar.
If you mean taking a ton of shots to get to 9 ppg and not being able to play any defense is fine or average, then yeah I guess. But we have very different definitions of fine or average. And there is really no hope of him getting any better unless he just gets to come off the bench and shoot 3s. Fran is in over his head, that much is obvious.
And all I'm getting at is if JorBo is your starting PG for the next 3 years things are going to be wildly entertaining from our end.
