Season Predictions

There have been multiple people say that our offense has a chance to be better than last year. Don't call it "laughable" (UNIGuy4Cy) when you don't even know the entire circumstances. Klein was a tremendous leader and competitor. He ran the offense really well and was a good down field runner. He was not a great passer or shifty runner. With Sams, comes one of the fastest, if not the fastest QB in the country. He is an elusive runner with a much stronger arm than Klein. I am not saying he is going to be better, but the potential really is there.

You all are probably familiar with Waters, as he played at Iowa Western. He broke juco passing records set by Cam Newton and won a national championship last year. He is a more than adequate runner.

QB isn't the only position on offense. Again, we return our entire OL, a RB who has rushed for over 900 yards two years in a row, and two WR's who are among the most dynamic players in the Big 12 in Lockett and Thompson. Klein will be tough to replace but the potential to be better on offense is there.

KSU is going to be better on offense than ISU is and is more talented all around. Quit drinking the ISU kool aid. You also couldn't be more wrong about our home field advantage, as KSU has the best record in the Big 12 at home the past three years. We were undefeated at home last year and only lost to OU at home the year before. Art Briles said last month when asked about the toughest place to play in the Big 12:
"Right when you said it I thought Manhattan, KS. You want to stand next to someone and not be able to hear them, walk your *** into Manhattan, KS."

Kliff Kingsbury had this to say this summer: "Actually Kansas State. It's their fans. They're pretty choreographed, they do great cheers and chants, and they're always rowdy. That's a great atmosphere."

So I am really confused as to why you think it's not a tough place to play. Our non conference schedules have not been very weak the past couple of years. We have played Miami the past two years in the non con, including a win in Coral Gables.

So I have no respect for you. You are reducing Klein's impact for you guys in order to make yourself feel better about the future. This is a man that most of the nation thinks was one of the all time greats in the sport of college football and you come on here and say that he wasn't a good QB. I don't care how you spin it, there is no way to be a great QB if you don't have a good arm or a good runner.

Moving on, who has said that you will be better? Other KSU fans? Be serious. People will give you more leeway than ISU because you have had some good seasons, even with that though no one is expecting much from you guys this season. Name one known annalist who thinks that KSU offense is going to improve one year removed from losing its best player?

Last, Coach talk is wonderful. I can find quote after quote going on about ISU as being such a tough place to play. Lets face facts, you had a good team the last two years so of course you played well at home. You didn't lose many games on the road either, does that mean that your fans travel so well it is like your always at home? Give me a break. KSU is not Norman, it is not Austin. I really don't think your home field advantage is going to do any more for ISU than any other Big 12 team. The fact that you are the closest school to us, will actually minimize some of your home field advantage over us.

When Hayden Fry became UI coach. He said the most important thing they had to do, was to dominate ISU. Unfortunately he did! And you can see what happened. A legion of young Hawk fans were born. Believe me, all the coaches for both teams know the importance of that game. It does no good to downplay it. You have to embrace it. Watch the atmosphere for that game when it arrives. Then feed me your nonsense.

Nonsense? Beating Iowa isn't a bad thing, but the importance of it needs to be in the past, and it CAN NOT be the most important game of the year.

How about beating Oklahoma one of these years? Been 20+ years since that happened. That's a bigger deal than beating a school that's only had a handful of good teams (realistically--I know Iowa fans like to think history starts around 1980, and marginal 8-3 teams that go to the Rose Bowl are good).

I don't know what that is but I'm pretty sure I don't want to find out. :wideeyed:

It's still a lose/lose situation for us. If we win, congrats, we beat a bottom feeder from a bad conference. If we lose it looks really bad. I'd rather just get rid of the game all together. Nothing positive can come from it

The KSU offense is going to pretty good. Their Oline might be the best in the conference and they have a good RB and one of the most electric players in the conference in their WR Lockett. Their biggest area of concern is their defensive front seven since they lost virtually everybody there. They do have a some good safeties.

I used to be pretty down on the UI game. Some of the excuses of why we "need" it drive me nuts;

"It's good for the state"...I think ISU competing with UT & UI competing with tOSU would be pretty damn good for the state.

"it sells lots of tickets"...remember when they said this about the NU game? Well NU is off the schedule and we're setting records...it's a quality product that strengthens a program not one games gate take.

"it's our main rivalry"...which will never get us closer to a B12 Championship.

All that said I'm coming back around to the UI game. They're in an AQ conference, they're close and it's a chance prove we're superior to a stadium full of Iowans (fans and prospective fans alike).

I will never get the Cyclone swagger on this site. Lots of 8 win predictions even though you have had only one 8+ season since 1980. I see it will be a huge shock if Iowa wins this year , but I personally don't ever predict a blow out by either team.

It happens for every team every year. Don't make it out like we are the only fan base that drinks too much Koolaid from time to time.

Please show me where I said Klein wasn't a good QB. Pointing out a couple of flaws isn't saying he was a bad QB. My point was that everyone on here thinks we are going to suck just because Klein is gone. As I've said multiple times now, he is going to be very tough to replace, but I like our possible replacements in Sams and Waters.

The coaches think KSU will be better, along with every single preseason media outlet. Also, KSU was the first receiving votes getter outside the Top 25. ISU was no where to be seen. As for the offense improving, here is an ANALYST who thinks it's possible:

David Ubben: "Even without Klein, the offense has a chance to be more productive."

Do you really think Austin is that great of a home field advantage? ISU and KSU both have better home field advantages in my opinion. DKR seats over 100,000 and is a nice facility, but it really isn't as loud or intimidating as it could be. I never said KSU has the best home field advantage in the Big 12, but it is definitely up there.

Didn't KSU win the Big 12 last year? Didn't they only lose one regular season game? Who picked them to be better than that? I'm going to make it easy and let you provide me just one single reputable source that claims that and I will concede it to you.

And ISU played them closer than anybody last year, I fully expect us to have at least a 50% chance of winning.
