Season Predictions

Why do you all have us beating UNI? I heard on this board that they are gonna be really good this year. :plaugh:

There are way too many people picking Tulsa. The staff and every returning member of the team should have a chip on their shoulder for that game and two weeks to prepare. Tulsa will prepare for who we were on offense not who we will be with Koach K.

That puts us at a prediction of 6.4 wins for me. I think this is the best way to do it. It's a good style for discussion too. I personally think it is silly to just declare that you have a hunch that we are going to upset some team two months beforehand and add that as a W on a prediction.

I like your style for predictions. I tend to go about 10-20%% lower on a lot of games other than Iowa and UNI, though. 5-7 for me.

Why is everyone so scared of Baylor? We pounded them last year and played them tough with a Heisman winner? I say Wally has their number and we stroll out of Waco with a 10 point W.

Why be scared of any team anymore?
CPR's teams are unpredictable, but right on the edge of something fantastic.

I'll go with 8 wins, but I'm not smart enough to know where they come from. 3-0 entering conference play again, and then 5 more.

UNI -W - Our offense opens strong on the ground, Richardson looks good against overpowered UNI.
Iowa - W - The spirit of Trice gets our boys up for a game that, talent wise, I feel like we should win anyway. Big win at home (not as close as the past couple years).
@Tulsa - W - Call me crazy, but I think Richardson really steps up here. He remembers a poor performance in Memphis and being pulled, sickness or not, and plays similar to how he did against KU last year.
Texas - L - This seems ripe for an upset, and Texas didn't look great last year. But they were young, similar to how we are now. I think it's very winnable and will be close, but Texas comes out with the win.
@ Tech - W - Tough first year for Klingsbury. They're a tough team to gauge, but I think we come up with a somewhat surprising win here.
@ Baylor - L- I'm not big on Baylor this year, but I think Seastrunk has a field day against a D-Line and LB core that is simply overmatched against an attack like this.
OSU - L - Talented team, will win the conference IMO. I'd love to beat them at home again this year, but I think we get in a shootout that we can't handle. Defense looks pedestrian for the second week in a row.
@ KSU - L - It's hard to beat Bill Snyder in Bill Snyder Family Stadium. They're replacing a bunch on defense, but I'm high on their replacement for Collin Klein. Close game, as usual, that just doesn't go our way. Defense looks better.
TCU - W - I think they, and Pachall, are overrated. ISU gets a second "upset" win in two years against them. Defense plays solid in front of a home crowd.
@ OU - L - We haven't beaten them in ages. It's on the road. It just doesn't happen this year. Next year we've got a great shot at them at home, but we get run over in this game.
Kansas - W - Solid looking win at home on Senior Day. KU is a bad football team, and James Sims just isn't good enough to carry his team to win on the road. I do think they win in conference this year, though.
@ WVU - W - Tough road environment in Morgantown. They lost a ton on offense, and I'm not confident in their ability to play defense-- maybe this is a little bit of a shootout, but I think we come out with a road win in the Riot Bowl.

7-5 in a "rebuilding" year is pretty damn good. Team speed and strength are improved this year, the offense takes a huge step forward (for the first time in years, the offense wins us more games than the defense), and ISU surprises a bunch of teams. This team is in position to take a huge next step under Rhoads, and this is the year that we lay the foundation. Rhoads shares coach of the year with Gundy.

I agree that we're right on the edge of something fantastic, but I'll eat my hat if we win for the first time against OU since 1990, especially at Norman.

Well, one team we haven't beaten in 22 seasons (5-70-2 overall). That's plenty reason to be scared.

Yes, because teams usually use last seasons game tape to prepare, not the current seasons.

Fair, but I'm sure they'll look at the two meetings from last year to get a gauge of how we matched up and tried to handle them. I'm guessing we'll play it pretty close to the vest against UNI, so they won't learn much there. Which means that they would have to garner all their information to prep with from a single game vs. Iowa.

They've got a well coached and talented team, I fully expect them to be completely prepared. But, they won't be able to prepare for the entirety of our offense based off of the games before it, we can still throw some wrinkles at them.

The "History Says" guess is worth copying. I might do it.

If I do steal that, I'll swap Tech & Baylor, and keep the rest.

I like W-L format, but % appraoch works, too.
UNI 90
Iowa 65
at Tulsa 60
Texas 25
at Tech 40
at Baylor 45
OSU 25
at KSU 40
TCU 45
at OU 10
KU 75
at WVa 50

This would be hovering at 4-8, but several are in the 40-55 range, could be 7-5.

8-5, but we must kick the hoks butt. It is the most important game of the year, this year and every year. We need to not only beat them, but put are foot on their throats. I believe Jack Trice will do that for us this year. His spirit will be there. He will be on the field. Our players and fans will go crazy. It is one of the biggest stories in college football. They will make a movie of it, like 42.

I asked a "Cyclone" magic 8 ball if we would win 8 games this year and it said "absolutely". So I will go with that, the dark arts or dark side of the force or whatever runs those things says we step up this year.

6-6 (I'll take it this year. "Tough/Close" losses to TCU, Baylor, WVU)

Wins vs UNI, Iowa, Tulsa, Tech, Kansas, Baylor, K State (finally), and West Virginia 8-4 or potentially 7-5 if Seastrunk has his way and gets loose
