I don't know about that, that would be a lot of potential rebounding we'd be giving up. Even though we out rebounded Drake by 15 it seems we could have done a lot better.

Edit: and to top it off, its not like CB is the best rebounder, so we'd have nobody out there to rebound.
 
I think before anybody goes too crazy subbing people in the starting lineup, or saying so-and-so should play first, blah, blah, blah, etc - remember that we have a small sample size. 3 games - that is all. In those 3 games, we have had three different leading scorers.

As long as we are a well-oiled machine by conf. play, I don't care who is playing, or who is scoring. Just win baby.

Well, I think we might see it if we go small for a certain opponent. Maybe something like this:

gilstrap
SC
brackins
Lucca
DG

Again, I don't get to wound up over who starts as much as who gets the most actual minutes.
 
Why the bust on Gilstrap. His game wasn't of star quality... but he played within the system and let other who were hot take the shots.

In 22 minutes... 7 points (3 of 9), 1-1 3-pointers, 9 rebounds, 2 steals. Heck, he almost had a double-double. He also picked up a couple fouls otherwise would have had more points and potentially a big time dunk. He picked his shots fairly wisely and when he realized he wasn't "feeling it" he held back and let the others contribute that were "feeling it".

I think thats a great thing to have... a guy willing to due his part (rebounding, defense) and not just worry about points when others are clearly taking care of scoring.
 
In looking more at his stats, he was the second rebounder (Craig had 10 to MG's 9) but played 13 less minutes (35 vs 22). His ability to out leap and keep plays alive is great.
 
Gilstrap was under the weather tonight so tonight may not be a good indicator of how he can play.
 
During his post game interview after the last game he sounded like a coach talking about the game. He is a very smart player.
 
I thought Scott was very key in getting CB involved in the game offensively late in the first half. For the first 10 minutes or so, we pretty much relied on the 3 with very few looks in the paint. When Scott was in there, he attacked the baseline a few times to draw defenders his way and found a way to get the ball to CB in solid scoring position. After CB got a couple shots to go down, he was good for the rest of the night.

Scott is a VERY intelligent player. He knows where everyone is at on the court and he knows where he fits in this offense. I haven't seen him try to make a play that he had no business making. Very composed. And that's just my view on him at the offensive end. He's also going to be one of the better defenders on our team too. I'm really excited about this kid.

When healthy, this team is an easy 10-deep:

PG: Garrett - Colvin
SG: Lucca - Scott
SF: Gilstrap - Boozer
PF: Brackins - Dendy
C: Hamilton - JVB

The only one of those 10 I don't expect to see significant playing time (>15 min/game) is Boozer.

But that is a really good second team.

Well said. I feel that he will be a very important player come B12 time.
 
Gilstrap's strengths is NOT only scoring/rebounding. Its his presence and be able to create his own shots. Things that it may NOT show up on stats sheet is what he is good at... in addition to everything else.
 
I like how SC can create his own shots. He is very quick and moves really good without a ball.

This is most beneficial when it comes to practice all year. Our starters are finally playing against good athletic players finally. They last couple of years the second team did nothing for the 1s
 
That was the first I've seen Scott play. He plays with a lot of confidence for a guy coming off the bench. In fact he's almost too good to be coming off the bench in the first place.
