He wanted to play for a high-octane, explosive offense. Our offer was the death knell to anyone else sniffing around him.
If I remember correctly ISU was waiting til he camped there before they offered him. Standard procedure. He’s absolutely dominated 4A for 2 years en route to back to back state titles, IA Gatorade POTY’s, National team, etc etc. DIDN’T WANT HIM AND STILL DON’T. Btw if Lanning isn’t good enough to beat out Rohach then good luck.
We will have (potentially) 5 scholarship QBs on the roster next year. Lanning has one more yr to learn the offense and if he doesn't, then we have 2 more guys behind him and one in front that can get better.
Because playing against 4A Iowa competition is tougher than 5A Texas competition?
ISU wanted DeLira, they didn't want Boyle. Who knows who will be better, and most likely Boyle won't be a QB, but ISU obviously thinks DeLira > Boyle

How's that working out for you? QB is the single most important position on the field. That's not rocket science. ISU didn't name a starter until a couple weeks before the season started because no one separated themselves. Now that we have the benefit of hindsight it's pretty obvious why. Richardson really hasn't had a terrible season. He's played alright, but he isn't a game changer. Rohach hasn't looked good. Lanning clearly must be behind them two. The fact none of the other QBs on the roster won the spot over Richardson tells me they probably aren't game changers either. Now hopefully one of the younger guys takes some giant steps and becomes a good QB, but I wouldn't exactly be counting on that right now.
Who knows what position Boyle will end up playing, but I wouldn't simply refrain from recruiting a QB because you have too many on the roster already. Not at that position. I'd keep trying to find a difference maker. If a kid right in your own back yard has flat out lit up high school football for 2 straight years at the highest level it's played at in Iowa I think you take your chances on him regardless of depth.
I'd like to know... what makes you assume this? I mean I get that he's athletic enough to play other positions but he's being recruited as a QB. In fact he's risen from a 2 star to a 3 star QB in the past year. Which means he's improving his recruiting profile as a QB. Of course there's a chance he ends up at another position, but to say it is "most likely" that he does at this point is naïve.

Boyle will be a QB at Iowa, and anyone that claims otherwise is literally just making things up. I don’t fault you though, he looks capable of playing d-back - he’s a heck of an athlete.
Also, comparing him to an undersized pro-style QB that’s ranked 282nd in Texas would just be an insult to Boyle.

I would have guessed you didn't even know he existed until this thread but you keep talking like you know enough to make an accurate comparison.
ISU didn't want him. If he ends up being a great QB you can talk as much smack as you want for ISU passing on him but he's a QB from the state of Iowa that ISU did not want. I'm not concerned considering nobody else wanted him either
I didn’t know he existed until I looked at his recruiting profile, saw his low ranking, lack of offers thru summer evaluation, and height and weight. Frankly, I don’t have the patience to find and watch his highlights, so I’ll just take the recruiting services and coaches word for it.
I don’t blame you for knowing nothing about football recruiting, but ISU couldn’t even get him to their camp that’s 30 min from his HS, yet he went to Michigan, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, etc.
