I would put Ray Wylie Hubbard just a notch below Robert Earl Keen and Alejandro Escovedo. But i would agree he has grown on me also. Fantastic talent.
Between RA and Chris Robinson, Neal logged some serious time with a couple of complete ******** whose music I cherish.
No idea who he is, but love his ex in This is Us. I wish I was more plugged in to good music like you all. Although a "musician" once, I don't have much for a discerning ear when it comes to new music.
Speaking of Chris Robinson, I am very excited to read the new book written by Steve Gorman
I was to young to see Whiskeytown when they were an actually band, but last year on my trip to Austin for the football game I got to watch a local band play an entire set of Whiskeytown songs. It made the sting of the football game a lot less.

The guy is an incredible songwriter and performer, and has written some of my favorite records (Jacksonville City Nights is my fave of his). I didn't listen to his music based on whether he was a good guy or not. Maybe the guys in Rascal Flatts are super nice human beings but you couldn't pay me to listen to their music. But it definitely caused some pause when it comes to listening to his stuff, and I probably listen to it less now than before.
When this whole thing came out, initial thought was: "Ryan Adams tries to sleep with women, and at times can be kind of a jerk. SURPRISE!" Also seemed like sour grapes from his ex-wife. The messaging with the minor girl definitely elevated the severity of these claims, definitely toeing a line way to closely, although I don't think they ever found any prosecutable criminal behavior, did they? However nowdays post #metoo all of this is looked at through a different lens than it was even a few years ago. Time will tell whether he is given redemption from fans, media, or even himself.
It will be interesting to see what his next tours are, and the reactions. He was a don't miss at Red Rocks for my wife and I, and I'm not sure if we'd go back to see him. Probably, after time. The last show he played at Red Rocks was incredible, and he made it clear he wanted to come back every year, but maybe the venue will refuse to book him?

Also, not to get this sent to the cave, but the POTUS has done and said worse things to women, IMO. Just to put it into perspective.
As am I. If you're into podcasts, check him out on Steven Hyden's "Celebration Rock" podcast. It's a couple hours long and he goes deep on the formation of the band and gives what seems to me a very fair take on the Robinson Brothers. He doesn't hold back, but it's not a gratuitous angry thing. Seems about as objective as you could get.

Huge Ryan Adams fan for years, and I have struggled with this. I haven't stopped listening, but every time his music comes up on shuffle, I think about the allegations.
The good news is that there is always great music out there to listen to. I've been obsessed with a band called Mipso lately. Great alt-country rootsy stuff.
