Ryan Adams fans

I love Whiskeytown. Honestly, Gold is my favorite RA solo album. I love the range of styles and think he generally nails it. Cold Roses is probably second - best of the Cardinals era for sure.

I'll check out the Temperance Movement. The artist I wasn't previously all in on that I've gone off the deep end with this year is Ray Wylie Hubbard. Truly one of the greatest songwriters alive.

I would put Ray Wylie Hubbard just a notch below Robert Earl Keen and Alejandro Escovedo. But i would agree he has grown on me also. Fantastic talent.

I haven't put on a RA record since it all came out. I haven't purchased any RA lps since it all came out. However, if one of his (or Whiskeytown) songs comes on in one of my shuffles, I don't turn it off. And, since Neal Casal's passing, I've had some Cardinals songs in my head a couple of times.

Between RA and Chris Robinson, Neal logged some serious time with a couple of complete ******** whose music I cherish.

No idea who he is, but love his ex in This is Us. I wish I was more plugged in to good music like you all. Although a "musician" once, I don't have much for a discerning ear when it comes to new music.

I was to young to see Whiskeytown when they were an actually band, but last year on my trip to Austin for the football game I got to watch a local band play an entire set of Whiskeytown songs. It made the sting of the football game a lot less.

I thought I saw something about him recently but not sure what came of it.

And yeah, it does make it weird to think of listening to him...although I never exactly saw him as some sort of upstanding citizen as he was always known for erratic behavior.

It's also weird that they still play Michael Jackson on the radio like all's well.

Our society lets a lot of things go including who we put in charge.

Bill Clinton was nearly two decades ago, let it go.

The guy is an incredible songwriter and performer, and has written some of my favorite records (Jacksonville City Nights is my fave of his). I didn't listen to his music based on whether he was a good guy or not. Maybe the guys in Rascal Flatts are super nice human beings but you couldn't pay me to listen to their music. But it definitely caused some pause when it comes to listening to his stuff, and I probably listen to it less now than before.

When this whole thing came out, initial thought was: "Ryan Adams tries to sleep with women, and at times can be kind of a jerk. SURPRISE!" Also seemed like sour grapes from his ex-wife. The messaging with the minor girl definitely elevated the severity of these claims, definitely toeing a line way to closely, although I don't think they ever found any prosecutable criminal behavior, did they? However nowdays post #metoo all of this is looked at through a different lens than it was even a few years ago. Time will tell whether he is given redemption from fans, media, or even himself.

It will be interesting to see what his next tours are, and the reactions. He was a don't miss at Red Rocks for my wife and I, and I'm not sure if we'd go back to see him. Probably, after time. The last show he played at Red Rocks was incredible, and he made it clear he wanted to come back every year, but maybe the venue will refuse to book him?

Speaking of Chris Robinson, I am very excited to read the new book written by Steve Gorman

As am I. If you're into podcasts, check him out on Steven Hyden's "Celebration Rock" podcast. It's a couple hours long and he goes deep on the formation of the band and gives what seems to me a very fair take on the Robinson Brothers. He doesn't hold back, but it's not a gratuitous angry thing. Seems about as objective as you could get.

For all you Ryan Adams fans out there, have all the accusations against him made you feel any differently about him? For example- has anyone just quit listening to his music, etc?

I just hope he can get through all this and become a better person and start making music again and touring again for my own selfish reasons.

Anyone heard anything at all about him in the last 4 months or so?

Who is Ryan Adams?

1. Elliott Smith
2. Ryan Adams
3. Conor Oberst

Is how I would rank the singer-sadwriters.

Huge Ryan Adams fan for years, and I have struggled with this. I haven't stopped listening, but every time his music comes up on shuffle, I think about the allegations.

The good news is that there is always great music out there to listen to. I've been obsessed with a band called Mipso lately. Great alt-country rootsy stuff.
