Royce White headed to D-league??

He just needs to shut down his twitter account, it's not helping him and it's just making him look worse. Just stop playing everything out in social media, nothing good will come of that.

Royce White@Highway_30 I WILL continue, like I have done the past 72 hours, expressing my concerns to Doc. Fink, about the nature of the prob Between #rockets n I.

Jesus. Please SOMEONE take this kid's twitter app off his phone.

I swear he wakes up and is like "what can i tweet to make myself look even worse in this situation?"

The more this plays out, the worse Royce is looking. The "playing time" comments are nothing but Prima Donna, especially considering he didn't go to training camp and showed up out of shape.

I really find it hard to see a scenario where he EVER sets foot on an NBA court

Talked to some people within our organization that said he was never like this last year - this is a completely new Royce that no one here ever saw.

I'm begining to feel like the Royce we saw in Ames is not the real Royce. He's looking more and more like the immature kid who got kicked out of high school, got in trouble with the law, got suspended at Minnesota and then quit the team entirely when things didn't go his way. I wonder how much babysitting Fred had to do behind the scenes last year. Fred was an unproven coach who had a lot riding on making sure Royce worked out, the Rockets do not have anywhere near as much riding on him.

Certainly plausible.

At a minimum definitely needs exactly the right support structure or goes into a shell.

Loved Royce until the proclamation against Kentucky that he was the best player on the floor. Then I started to wonder. Sure he was the best player on the floor, but has he handled this realization poorly? I hope that's not the problem, but he did spend most of the time in Ames proving himself and maybe he feels he's done that? Unfortunately, this is not a good time of year for CFH to try and help him with his adjustment to life after ISU.

Strange thing is Iowa State seemed to be the only place where he was successful. Obviously he was a good basketball player in high school, but he had off the court problems, and then he had the disaster at Minnesota.

Maybe it's because he had a year here where he sat and just adjusted to the new climate? At all of those other places, he was just kind of thrown into playing AND a new style of life all at the same time.

could be part of the problem - chaning all aspects of life in a matter of weeks is intense

That could be a factor. I'd also contribute it too how dedicated department was to his success both on and off the court. Not just Hoiberg, but also anybody with the team and some of the brass including Jamie Pollard and Dr. Tom Hill.

I wouldn't say completely new. I think Minnesota is pretty familiar with this guy.

The more this trainwreck continues the more I think Fred (or someone on his staff) deserves some major props for getting him through his time in Ames.

for anyone, let alone with an anxiety disorder. Can't imagine the stress in the life of a newly drafted professional.

And did his girlfriend/whatever and child move with him? That could cause some pretty intense anxiety and depression if not.

I don't think we can easily discount the difference between playing college ball and playing at the pro level.

First of all, these are absolutely the best players in the world. Basically, everybody is really good.

Second, there is the schedule. Pre-season starts in October.....not November. If your team makes the playoffs...your season may not end until late June....not March or early April. You have up to 8 pre-season games, 82 regular season games, and up to 28 post-season games. That's a possible 118 games in a full season.....not less than 40 total as in college. You will usually have only one or two days between games. Not one or two games per week. More like 3 or 4.

Then you have all the travel....from coast to coast, and sometimes there are games on back to back days. In between, you have team meetings, shoot-arounds and actual practices.

On top of all that.......you are generally being very well paid. The fan bases are generally larger, and possibly even more fanatical. There is more publicity regarding the team, the coaches, and the players.

I'm just saying I don't think we can take how Royce was at ISU and really expect it to apply to his life in the pros. Two totally different worlds. The Big 12/NCAA is not the NBA, and Ames is not Houston. I think it is becoming pretty clear that Royce was not prepared for this, and unfortunately, he does not seem to have the right people around him to help him adjust.
