RIP Paul Grey (Slipknot)

Don't remember if I ever saw them at the the place on university next to "the brothers" barber shop. What the hell was that place called? i think the slipknot drummer owned it.

I believe you're thinking Hairy Mary's. To my recollection, Slipknot never played it, but Mr. Plow, 38th Parallel, and Index Case all made rounds there (if my memory serves).

That was such a good era to be a music fan in central iowa....

:wideeyed:

So....back on topic. Favorite Slipknot song? I'm a fan of their debut CD. After that, the type of kids that would follow them always seemed like angry little kids that liked to smoke and swear when their parents werent watching. Their first CD rocked though. Favorite song: (Sic)

Yes, and I am sorry.

To be on topic......I completely feel for the family, friends, and fans! I will never be able to understand what any of them are going through at this time, and honestly hope I never have to, but clearly Paul touched a lot of people in his life that he will be missed forever.

I went to a few Slipknot shows at that place when it was the Safari Club.

Left Behind. Best song. Best video.

Its Paul Gray, not Grey

Google it. People spell it both ways.

Also it was Safari that Shawn owned. I worked there for about 2 years. Jake bought it after a while and I worked for him. Then Jeff and John bought the place and renamed it Hairy Mary's. The previously owned a bar called Hairy Mary's and thought that they would bring it back. I think it's called Dublin now. Not sure.

Do not like their music and this guy is an idiot. Wife and baby on the way and leaves the house to check into a hotel to get a fix....ends up dead.

Feel sorry for his family, but certainly Paul made his own bed.

Wow, dude. Chill out.

PO's me off to be honest. If you want to ruin your own life that's your choice, but when it impacts others and you are bringing new life into this world then it is nothing more than selfish.

I hope his wife and unborn child are able to live a normal life and find happiness.

Apparently you've never known anyone with an addiction.

The view must be nice from atop your ivory tower.

Well, I grew up surrounded by addiction...the guy's not far off. I doubt somebody put that needle in his arm the first time. Paul put it in there...drugs, booze...I only feel for the family as they are the ones that actually go through hell while the addict walks around in a haze. I wouldn't call a dead guy an idiot but what he did was certainly idiotic.

Thanks for your input...I really cant understand why people feel the need to post garbage like this:sad::sad: Whats the old saying? If you cant say anything nice, dont say anything at all?

I'm not going to say that I feel bad for people that kill themselves in any way or fashion, but the way you stated your comment just sounded terrible. After all, he was still a human being.

There have been some posts of favorite songs, but how about which of their albums is best to start with for a music fan who never tried getting into them before? I might have to fire up my Rhapsody subscription again.

And not to make light of the sad situation at hand, but this topic brought to mind The Slipnuts, a random skit from Conan's good old days on Late Night. The funniest part of which may be the Slipnuts appearance at an actual Slipknot concert.

Most logical post in this thread... Dude basically took his own life with drugs. Don't feel sorry for him, but the family that he left behind.

Funeral was today, gf works there and said she saw a big dark red arrangement from sharron and ozzie that said rest inpiece as well as a huge arrangement from limp biscuit...rented 5 large black cadillac ezcalades from betts to excortfamily across street and there were 2-3 body guards at each entrance into funeral home
