RIP Paul Grey (Slipknot)

Fair enough. I should have included that I didn't give them a chance due the 3-4 songs I have heard (all yelling, or it seemed)... My bad for not trying other songs by them.

On to Youtube I go! Let's see if you can change my opinion.

EDIT #1: Snuff - Good song so far (roughly 3/4 done with the song).

EDIT #2: Before I Forget - Glad I decided to listen to the whole song with an open mind. Good song.

EDIT #3: Circle - I have heard this song before and I liked it... Never knew the name or the artist. Very good song.

EDIT #4: Vermillion Pt. 2 - Very good mellow song.

Thanks for not taking this opportunity to flame me. I must say that I did enjoy listening to this songs that you threw out to me.

I know they have more than just those too. Unfortunately I don't know many of the names of the songs though, just the songs themselves.

Give them a chance Nick...my ex-girlfriend couldnt stand the yelling but she now loves all their slow songs...along with Stone Sour's...

Slipknot and Stone Sour are my favorite bands...I think people hear "Slipknot" and they assume all their music is machine gun double bass and screaming but they have some of the most melodic songs in metal.

And I can't stand new metal with their Cookie Monster screaming vocals...maybe that's because I'm an old school thrash metal fan...

Still think the beginning of "Pulse of the Maggots" would be the perfect song for the football team to come running out of the tunnel to...

Ya, I am going to give them a fair chance (minus the yelling/screaming songs... NOTHING will change my opinion about that).

Corey Taylor has been working on a new album with Stone Sour and will be released later this year. Also Stone Sour is supposed to be on tour with I believe Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and Hellyeah this summer, but obviously we'll see now.

Slipknot may take time off but I would guess had this tragedy not happened, they would have done another album and tour.

Lots of links in here. Very, very sad to listen to the band members. RIP Paul.

Paul Gray - Coverage & Reaction - Lazer 103.3 - Everything That Rocks

About three times now, The River has absolutely ripped on Lazer for their reporting of this story. Sophia John just went off on it today. Did they report a COD or some other detail that wasn't true early when the story broke? She was ******. Apparently she was a good friend of Pauls. IMO she has been out of line in how she has gone about this unless there is something I never saw.

To be honest, I don't listen to the radio (I have Sirius) so I have no clue. That said, anyone who knew the guy has said that he's had previous issues with drug use. Is it right to come out and just assume that's how he died before you know ANY of the facts? No, it's not. If anyone at Lazer said anything in an as-matter-of-fact type of why that he died from drug use, I would be angry as someone who just loves Slipknot's music. Lazer is complete **** anyway. I've felt that way for a long time.

Sophia has had it in for lazer for a long time. When she was with 107.5 Iowa's new rock alternative, she was also Slipknot's manager. There was a big rivalry with 103.3 because they sided with 35 inch Mudder. Who was pretty big around central Iowa at the time. 103.3 refused to play slipknot and would play mudder all the time. So that rivalry was big in the local band scene. Funny part is Cory Brown who was a front man for Mudder ended up being Pauls roomate at the whole situation died down.

All of this and you managed to spell his name wrong on multiple occasions. Uh, ok.

get a life man. Next time something happens to your friend I will correct your gramar and think nothing about the subject.

Thats what it seems like. I have no idea what they said. Listening today, it almost seemed like they simply said he was "found dead" instead of a less abrasive term. She was really ****** at that. I thought it was ridiculous to be that mad over something so trivial. She also kind of made the whole thing about how bad she feels and how it affected her which I thought was stupid too. I like the River but I cannot stand most of the personalities. I used to not mind her, but it was out of control today.

I don't agree with them if they did come out and say it was drugs or whatever, but is it really a huge stretch? I don't think so. Besides, if they end up being correct, what's the difference.

Ah, I didn't know she was the manager. Good info. Explains her opinion. I have a little feeling she was a little peeved that they reported it first.

Last year, Paul hit a Soldier in a head-on type collision. I'm not exactly sure what happened and neither were hurt, but it happened right by the Hyperion Field Club. I actually just saw Paul about 2 months ago in his black Mercedes AMG, the same car he had wrecked the summer before.

I can recall watching slipknot open up for bigger acts at Toad Holler quite a few times(man I miss that place).

I remembere the day i heard they got signed to roadrunner records(1997 perhaps?) and was blown away by that news. Come to think of it, the debut album they relased on roadrunner that year was better than Machine Head's latest album at the time.

We had one of those "if 3 years ago someone told you slipknot would be putting out better stuff than machine head, you'd have told them they were crazy" moments.

Don't remember if I ever saw them at the the place on university next to "the brothers" barber shop. What the hell was that place called? i think the slipknot drummer owned it.

I've kept my mouth shut on this until today.......but I"m going to have to side with the other guy.

First it's not grammar, it's someone's identity and simple spelling. The problem I have is after your gloating of how you seem to be best buds with a few members in the band, grew up with them and went to school with them, and in fact one of them lived wit you for a few months, you managed to spell his name wrong. Its Paul Gray, not Grey. But you know, people type fast and get mixed up, so I get it....

OD most likely. Had a bunch of problems with it in the past.

But what irked me more was your disrespect for him and his family. Someone politely asked if you knew how he passed away the day you posted the thread. What was your response, "Most likely OD." Now Im sorry, but that tells me you have not freaking clue, but instead of saying "I don't know any details", you run your mouth and start saying crap that you don't even know is true. I would have just held your tongue and respected what the family requested and that is not to speculate on anything - being the good friend you are and everything.

So....back on topic. Favorite Slipknot song? I'm a fan of their debut CD. After that, the type of kids that would follow them always seemed like angry little kids that liked to smoke and swear when their parents werent watching. Their first CD rocked though. Favorite song: (Sic)

Well she must have sour grapes for Lazer then because I listen to them exclusively and since the death Lazer has been nothing but respectful to Paul. A couple of the Lazer DJ's (Andy Hall and Samantha Knight) were pretty close to Paul and had a very nice tribute the other night and have a nice tribute on the website.

Shes not happy, that's all I know. I was just curious as to what the deal was.
