2012: 11

Fact is that last year we were the closest to being in every game since Rhoads got here. No 50 point blowout loses to anyone. The closest we came was a 22 point lose to Texas on the Road. We only lost by 15 to OU in Norman and in 2010 we lost 52 to nothing. Yes we lost the first two games, yes this is likely to be a long year, but we also have the most first year starters of any Big 12 team. There are going to be times I'm mad and upset, but lets not play chicken little here.

What poppycock...off the 2009 starting roster, how many would start for us right now?
Collin Franklin?
Osemele?
Stephens?
Alvarez?
Lamaak?
Arnaud?
Arob?
Marquis Hamilton?
Sedrick Johnson?
Darius Darks?
Rashaan Parker?
Austin Alburtis?
Nate Frere?
Christopher Lyle?
Jesse Smith?
Josh Raven?
Fred Garrin?
James Smith?
Leonard Johnson?
Kennard Banks?
David Sims?

The answer - almost all. The notion that we have better players now is...ridiculous.

Your compaing a lot of seniors to freshman and soph and even with that there are only 5 or so names you listed that I would take. Compare freshman to freshman and I would take even fewer names.

Honest answer, I would say the o-linemen plus Rahsaan Parker, David Sims, and Leonard Johnson. that's it. If you struggle with counting, that's 7 out of the 21 you listed

It was a tangent that somebody made when I made the point that we are recruiting undersized players in general.

You went on a tangent about how we have short corners that get picked on, that Texas has a bunch of tall receivers, and that we always get our *** kicked by Texas implying it was because of our short corners. Then you say it's actually because of line play. If line play is the concern, why even complain that our corners are short if it's at most a minor reason for ISU's failures on the field?

Collin Franklin? Maybe
Osemele? Yes
Stephens? At center? No. At G? Probably
Alvarez?No
Lamaak?Maybe at Guard
Arnaud? I don't know. He probably wouldn't have been here. Sam is a better fit for what they want to do
Arob? He and James White are a push
Marquis Hamilton? No
Sedrick Johnson? Absolutely not
Darius Darks? No
Rashaan Parker? I don't think so
Austin Alburtis? Maybe
Nate Frere? No
Christopher Lyle? Maybe
Jesse Smith? Yes
Josh Raven? No
Fred Garrin? No
James Smith? No
Leonard Johnson? Yes
Kennard Banks? No
David Sims? Maybe

All of those receivers were replaced with guys that don't start on this team in Gary and West. Also, A lot of those guys, especially the Oline and LBers were seniors we are comparing to freshmen and sophomores.

ARob might start but there wouldn't be any measurable difference. Smith wouldn't have started last year and he wouldn't next year or the year after. Those offensive guys also got to work with someone who, by all of his resume excluding ISU, was a successful OC. The ones now, well they aren't.
