Rhoads doesn't anticipate staff changes

Wally still might retire, but this wouldn't be a good time or method for Rhoads to announce it.
I'm wondering this too. But I also can see Wally not wanting to retire this way. His defense was pathetic. I also think he can still coach. Not like the man forgot how.

This sums up my reaction pretty well

Rhoads is a lame duck coach next year. It will likely be his last year here. So what decent coach in their right mind would want to come to Ames for one year?

Unless, you want to promote that DC to head coach after one year? However, I do NOT want another defensive minded guy as our head coach. So, I don't think that's a good idea either.

Looking at the results on the field over the last few years, it would be fair to guess that Rhoads doesn't anticipate much of anything, ever.

"We're going to take some time to evaluate the season and make decisions from there".

Thats a more neutral statement that leaves open the possibility for change.

That's what JP has always said in the past with regards to head coaching position changes (or not). Until this season when he gave CPR support. At this point, unless Wally decides to retire, I'd guess he means it.

He didnt forget what he knew, though i think he was given too much credit for the first few years with Knott and Klein back there, covering up a lot of other mistakes.

That's an issue I have. Coach gets no credit here for good defense. Last I checked coach still coached those great linebackers.

But coach gets 100% blame for poor performance.

@johnsears: In each of Iowa State's final 6 games they gave up at least 500 yds of offense to opponent. 2 games of 700+.
Defense sucks. Completely **** offense just inflates those stats because teams run so many plays against us due to large number of 3 and outs.

He just coached the statistically worst defense in the country. Dead last. No one in the country did a worse job on defense than ISU.

Yeah, he's going to get some blame for that, genius.
