Who do you think is playing better. Reeves seems to be making all the big plays.

Didn't want to throw this in the other thread talking about them?

But to answer your question it is LJ, although 2 TD's gives the fans a false sense of who is more valuable to our defense

Reeves is making bigger plays right now. Hes going to be a good one. Hes already a good one, but he is going to be NFL talent in two years.

Reeves might be making the plays but it could be a benefit of playing opposite LJ. Seems like LJ is pretty much shutting down whoever is in front of him. I like the way both guys and Benton have been playing lately

Maybe the other teams are looking at Reeves and thinking they have the advantage because of his height. He then makes them pay.

NIU thru KSU- Reeves
UNI thru TT- LJ

IMO- I think Reeves has shwon better coverage and tackling skills this year. He gets picked on because of his height and has only been beat one time this year and that was the back shoulder throw agaisnt UNI.

LJ did not look good agaisnt NIU and was embarrassed agasint iowa. his tackling was borderline pathetic against KSU. He has stepped it up the last couple of games.

Reeves got beat pretty badly at K-State this year too. The bummer was, he was in perfect position for the pick on a deep post route, but K-State's horribl QB threw the ball way behind the receiver (and no, it wasn't intentional) and reciever made the catch while Reeves broke to the ball and the receiver was able to run a long way after the catch.

Reeves got beat deep against Tech a few times. But he makes big plays which is nice. LJ is probably more consistent but doesn't have much of a wow factor as Reeves does.

how is this different than using two fade routes (to a guy that has 6 of TT's 8 TDs) to give a false sense of who is more valuable?
The only evidence you give for your opinion is TT throwing the fade to Leong. Guess what? He has 6 TDs this year. Six of TT's eight passign TDs. It had nothign to do with REeves and eveything to do with Leongs jumping ability.

Are you talking about the obvious pass itnerference play that wasn't called. I don't count that because Reeves had great position and the KSU player interferred. Even agasint TT, Reeves had good position. Leong has great hops. he is the high jumper and long jumper for TT's track team. He has caught 6 of TT's 8 TD passes.

If it had everything to do with Leongs jumping ability, I would say it had a lot to do with Reeves because of his height. It's called match-ups

IMO Benton is the best DB we have. To say we missed him against Iowa was an understatement.

It is about positioning. LJ is in better position to defend those passes. He pushes his defender towards the sidelines and uses the sidelines as an extra defender. That is very smart. Other other DB's didn't do that on Saturday. They got beat and were chasing down after. It's easy to outjump a guy for a ball when his back is turned away from the ball

LJ is a bigger more physical DB which helps him in pass coverage

I agree LJ has the potential to be our most physical corner but has not really shown it this season. I'd contend Reeves has been a bit more physical just by his nature of running right with the guy and gently keeping him off his preferred route.

You guys remember LJ as a true freshman? Guy was just as much or more of a playmaker than Reeves is as a true sophomore. Before he was taught how to tackle correctly he could really hit ...plus that was an awesome interception against Kansas.

Yep. Teams pick on the guy with the least experience. So LJ's freshmen year fans noticed him more because balls were being thrown his way. Now Reeves is getting more balls thrown his way
