Reeves or LJ

Yep. Teams pick on the guy with the least experience. So LJ's freshmen year fans noticed him more because balls were being thrown his way. Now Reeves is getting more balls thrown his way

Yup, I would have to agree with this. The only time that the ball gets thrown LJ's way is when he blows the coverage, or when he thinks that the safety is helping him over the top.

Hopefully Reeves will be better than LJ by the time hes a SR. LJ has gotten better, but he's not at the level of ellis hobbs or amari spievey or whoever.

Both are solid players though. Will need all 5 DBs to play lights out again this week.

That means YOU TOO D Sims!! You've been quiet!

It is about positioning. LJ is in better position to defend those passes. He pushes his defender towards the sidelines and uses the sidelines as an extra defender. That is very smart. Other other DB's didn't do that on Saturday. They got beat and were chasing down after. It's easy to outjump a guy for a ball when his back is turned away from the ball

LJ is a bigger more physical DB which helps him in pass coverage
My point is, you make fun of people because they use two plays to pump Reeves up but you use two plays to down play his play.

I didn't make fun of anybody. Not sure where that is coming from.

I really like Reeves. I just think people are being unfair with LJ because they haven't heard his name called as much as they did when he was a true freshmen

One thing I was happy to see from all our DBs on Saturday was the tackling. When the TT receivers made catches, our guys wrapped them up right away and brought them down. I saw Reeves on quite a few of those tackles. I'd gotten used to seeing receivers made catches and break about 5 tackles on their way to a big play against our defense.

I think people are hard on LJ because of his play in the NIU, iowa and KSU games and they expect more. He did not play well agasint NIU and iowa saw that on film and abused him. He played better against KSU in coverage but he looked like he didn't want to tackle anyone. I think that is what mmost people are making their opinions on. I don't think many are judging purely on Reeves two plays. I also think Reeves breaks on the ball better. Now maybe he can take more chances because he is getting more help from the safeties, whereas LJ is on an island.

The best indicator of how good a corner is isn't how many catches or TD's they give up. It's how often they are thrown at. Last year teams picked on Banks, this year they go after Reeves, that says a lot of what our opponents think of LJ. I'm not knocking JR, just saying people seem to really respect LJ. Either way when thrown in Benton our DB's are solid for the next couple of years. Thanks Geno!!!

I just like the looks of our secondary. I'd much rather look at them as a group rather than draw comparisons, but gotta admit Reeves is becoming one of my favorites. He reminds me of Ellis Hobbs and think him and a few others (LJ,Sims,Benton) have a shot at the next level.

I am a fan of the way that LJ plays zone coverage. He really seems to position himself well and maintains his coverage. I am not a fan of LJ on go routes. He seems to lack the burst to recover, and does not get his hand in there when the ball is coming.

Reeves on the other hand seems to take more chances with the ball in the air. He plays the receiver well, and seems to be able to use the hints(like to hands coming up) to recover on plays where he is beat. He also has the ability to recover when a receiver blows by him, and those physical skills can't be taught.

All in all, I think Reeves deserved to get the starting job, and I am much happier with him as compared to Anthony Young, who needs some more time to learn the position. Reeves has speed, and its nice to not have to worry every time the ball goes up over whether a CB will be able to get there.

Funny, CPR said on the radio following UNI that Anthony Young was our best tackling corner.

He also said that Arnaud is faster than Tiller last year. I think he just says stuff to say it. Coach talk. Every coach does it

Arnaud said on Matt and Miller show that Reeves has the best vertical on the team at 47 inches. That is just impressive.

Well, he was a 24' long jumper in high school.

Right now, I think that Reeves will be up and down, while making occasional big plays, then improve as he matures.

The good thing about his size (or lack thereof) this week, is that Utah has a 5'7" receiver for him to match up with. Should be interesting!
