RECRUITING: New Isaiah Stokes information

Or I wonder if, after the two weeks are up for the schools to submit the Loi to the conference, then every school in the conference can see all the signings. If that's the case, it makes sense on the timeline, that another SEC school saw he had signed with Florida, and then leaked the info.

This is probably why Stokes never told Prohm, or other schools, because he was afraid they'd leak out before he got a chance to tell his family. Of course it back fired badly, because I'm sure another school found this out, and was more than willing to leak the info.

I would actually not be surprised at all if it was Prohm that found out, and wasn't too pleased, so he told someone that could leak it, without it getting directly back to him.

I hope so. I like tonpicture Prohm as a ninja. Mr Nice Guy in the day and lethal info leaking assassin by night.

I am sure the staff has still be searching and contacting other Posts during the past two weeks and all fall. Prohm still had 2 scholarships open if Stokes would have picked ISU and that obviously wasn't a given in any case. Well see how it ends up but Stokes wasn't going to decide next years team's fate, Wigginton factors more into that for our current new commers (Lard and Kosongo too).

And let's not get too upset with Stokes. The holiday announcement sounds like he wanted to be around his family during Christmas break to announce (he is at an out of state prep school currently) that is his right. Unfortunate for us as fans but it is a nice thing to do for his family/hometown.
If he wanted to wait to announce sure. But not if he signed a LOI

Definitely this. How did he expect to keep it quiet after the schools are required to submit their LOI's? I'm sure it was an SEC school that leaked it. Tennessee likely.

Why does he need to wait to announce it to celebrate with family?

Is it somehow *less* festive at Christmas if they knew their young man was going to play basketball at the University of Florida a few weeks beforehand?

Wouldn't you still celebrate that huge accomplishment just the same?

Exactly makes little sense, even for a 17 or 18 year old. I guess the only thing I've learned through this is that Stokes might be the bulb that is out in the string of lights and FL is desperate.

If he wanted to do that he could have just waited to sign.

"Some kids just like to be recruited" as Campbell said. I guess Stokes is one of those kids. Best of luck to him but I don't feel bad that this leaked out.

Monte committed to us and ask us to keep it quiet so he could announce his commitment on his birthday. However, he never signed a LOI. Not sure why stokes thought nobody would know he signed.

So did he tell the other schools recruting him? "I'm going to UF, but I'd like to surprise my family at Christmas, so please keep it quiet and now you can move on" or not?

Man, what a weird deal. I wish we'd hear more comments from the national recruiting insiders on their opinion's of what went down. Probably don't want to slam a high school kid though.
