RECRUITING: New Isaiah Stokes information

Best of luck to the kid, on to the next for the staff. In prohm we trust!

Get a grad transfer and a juco, and focus on bringing in Race Thompson in 2018, who is higher rated and looks more skilled than stokes.

Not sure he is more skilled. From watching the videos, Stokes seems more skilled. Plus, he is 285 lbs.

The most frustrating part is the two weeks where our staff could have been focusing on other bigs. Imagine if he had actually made it all the way to Christmas...that would have been REALLY ugly. If this is true, then it is selfish and sad, not only from Stokes, but from Florida for playing along with his wishes. What were they thinking?

It is one thing to have your mind pretty much made up but not have signed as you delay your announcement. Stokes was SIGNED to a LOI. And then he continued to millk the process knowing full well that despite the best efforts of recruiters, and everything else, he was signed, sealed, and delivered to Florida.

That is what makes his conduct in all of this so bad.

This is a bad look for Stokes but even worse for Florida . He knew he was a priority for us and strung us along after he had already signed his LOI. Shame on the Florida staff for allowing this to happen. We weren't the only only school heavily recruiting him and they should have told Stokes that the signing needs to be made public and the other schools need to know that you will be a Gator. Man, the SEC is *******shady!

What bothers me in this whole saga is that Stokes didn't have the fortitude to call Prohm and tell him that he's off the market. Instead, he encourages our staff to continue to recruit him and waste their time, when it should have been used on other kids. It makes losing him substantially easier for me.

I am sure the staff has still be searching and contacting other Posts during the past two weeks and all fall. Prohm still had 2 scholarships open if Stokes would have picked ISU and that obviously wasn't a given in any case. Well see how it ends up but Stokes wasn't going to decide next years team's fate, Wigginton factors more into that for our current new commers (Lard and Kosongo too).

And let's not get too upset with Stokes. The holiday announcement sounds like he wanted to be around his family during Christmas break to announce (he is at an out of state prep school currently) that is his right. Unfortunate for us as fans but it is a nice thing to do for his family/hometown.

He could have still called up Prohm and said he signed his LOI with Florida, but he was hoping to keep it quiet until Christmas. This is reasonable. We know he didn't do that because Prohm made a trip to Florida to watch his game at IMG. So we spent time and money to keep recruiting him when he knew full well he had already signed with Florida. If i was Prohm i'd be pissed

FL basketball probably just burned a bridge with the entire Big 12 coaching fraternity in terms of recruiting decorum.

If this happened to KU, WVU or OU, how much sleep would you be losing?

I'm sure the B12 coaches have bigger fish to fry right now.

I don't have a problem with him wanting to be around his family to announce. But if you are going to do that, why not wait to sign until spring?

Let's hope we get a chance to take on Florida in Hilton, in the SEC challenge. Our coaches will give them a little extra effort.

Yep. It's not some huge deal, but it's kind of ****** of stokes.

Interesting. From the above Jerry Meyer article http://247sports.com/Bolt/Florida-signing-of-Isaiah-Stokes-revealed-49440514

"Florida kept quiet about the signing in honor of of Stokes' desire. However, speculation is that another school leaked the signing."
This is probably why Stokes never told Prohm, or other schools, because he was afraid they'd leak out before he got a chance to tell his family. Of course it back fired badly, because I'm sure another school found this out, and was more than willing to leak the info.

I would actually not be surprised at all if it was Prohm that found out, and wasn't too pleased, so he told someone that could leak it, without it getting directly back to him.
