Recruit Lists v2.0

More on Gary Thompkin's son. Described as a point/shooting guard in a power forward's body. Sounds like the kind of guy Fred likes. This has to happen. ISU has never built bridges to very many of the guys who helped Johnny turn ISU around. It would be a neat legacy recruit, especially given his abilities.

Would be nice to get a former player's kid. But then again the kid may feel like it would be added pressure if he doesn't meet expectations at his Dad's school. Hard to tell much from the videos of him that I watched simply because the defenders were pretty much just letting him do what he wanted.

Hmm, that bit where he says that he's committing in the next 1-2 months is interesting.

I wonder if the Yakwe official has put Coffey in hurry up and it's a "first one to commit" situation? (that's of course IF ISU is his preferred destination).

Would love to see how Coffey responds after his injury before we take him, but that's not an option. Miles Bridges & Kassoum Yakwe are other strong candidates at the same position. In Fred We Trust.

Coffey wants to be a PG... or to be in positions to handle/ facilitate. So maybe the next Cyclone Point-Forward.

So I'd consider him a different player than Yakwe or Bridges, who are wings/ forwards - even though they're all 6'-6"/ 6'-7" range.

IMO a team can never have enough guys 6'5"-6'7" who are solid ball handlers and have 3 point range- so Coffey, Bridges and Yakwe would all be great gets in the same class. Add those guys to Williams we would have some pretty versitile guys with length.

With losing Hogue, Edozie, Nader and Niang over the next couple years, I would think we will need to use a couple scholarships on post players- Diello would be a great first step.

If bridges wants to play here. We could have 5 guys who play that position and we would still take him

This doesn't even seem possible.

Iowa State isn't to the point where you can say no to a top 45 recruit who wants to go to your school.

Really need a 3 for next year that can shoot the 3.

It would be nice, but we have Burton, Nader, Naz, Thomas, and maybe even some Georges and Williams. Imo that is a want, not a need. In terms of being elite, we need a post like Diallo and/or another ball handler before that. If Cooke is 100% we may not need the latter.

Anyone follow juco ball? I watched IHCC against NDSt College of Science. IHCC had Gary Williams Jr, a 6'5" 215 pg that was pretty good (they also have a freshman sg from Chicago). Kind of a Kane-like pg. Surprised no one has taken a chance on Jordan Washington. He is huge and based on talent would make a bigger impact than Manyang or Dime if he was motivated.

Johnny Woodard from NDSt is a big, athletic, guard that can really shoot. He even does some posting up for them.
