Recruit Lists v2.0

There is absolutely no reason TJ should be considered for the HC unless ISU sees itself on the level of UWGB.
Otz is the lead assistant for a coach who can't go out and recruit right now so of course he was going to be handing out a lot of offers during the live period. That is nothing new.
Mann is also out on the recruiting trail and is going to tailgate tour stops so it's not just Otz.
Also no one knows what kind of system Otz would run so I don't think you could say he would be the closest to Hoiball that we could land.
And they can get a better recruiter. There are assistants at the blue bloods that are great recruiters waiting to be a head coach.

"During the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Otzelberger was in charge of all opponent scouting reports and implementation of game plans as the Cyclones recorded two of their greatest campaigns in school history."

As a program, we're better than a TJ type hire.

That isn't to say that he can't or won't some day be a very successful coach, but ISU should not be his first job, with the condition the program is in.

-We are roughly the #2-3 MBB program in the B12 currently.
-4 straight NCAA appearances, proving that you can win consistently here.
-If Fred goes that will be two coaches in recent history that have went from ISU to the NBA so it is a respected job.
-Hilton + a non-con schedule almost guarantees you 15-16 wins every year, so you just have to find 5-7 more to get a NCAA birth.
-Fan support secondly only to KU in the B12.
-We're paying Fred $2.6/yr so we have the financial resources to compete for top NCAA coaching salaries.
-Facilities are competitive with most top 25 programs outside of a few of the blue blood schools.
Same could be said for Oregon hiring their longtime assistant. IMO the upstarts that have retained success have largely hired from within to keep continuity of an approach and formula that works for that area and school. Hoiball brought the magic back I think if Otz kept Hoiball in place with Henry helping with X's and O's we will be fine. Sure we could get a bigger name but that doesn't mean that the bigger name isn't a bigger gamble.

With all due respect, you guys are ruining the one good thread left on CF.

There's 48 other threads you can discuss Fred and TJ and how it affects recruiting.

Fair point. Noticed Hauser lists Marquette as Warmer and Virginia and Creighton as Warm. Seems like a kid I thought we had a good chance with. Anyone here if he will take a visit here? He has done a couple this month Already.

Hauser has been a priority for Marquette for over a year now, with Virginia just recently offering and him visiting (Tony Bennett is from Wisc and has strong ties there) so they look to be the Top 2 at this point.
As far as I know ISU increased intrest started with the Otz hire (he has strong Wisky ties too.) thus there is work to be done. Basically if Hauser is wanting to wait until the Fall I like ISU's chances for a visit and landing sport better than if he decides to commit early in the summer.

Miles Bridges gives a quote on all the schools recruiting him.

Kentucky: “It fits my game really well with the way coach [John] Calipari plays and he gets people to the league so I’ll improve if I go there.”

Michigan:
“They develop players out of high school that aren’t that good and then they turn them into pros. Just imagine if I went there, they’d develop me.”

Michigan State:
“I’ve always loved Michigan State. They are 45 minutes away from me. Me and coach [Tom] Izzo have been tight and coach DJ [Stephens], they know my game really well.”

Iowa State:
“Their game fits me too. Fred Hoiberg’s offense, he knows how to create for small forwards and wings and all that.”

North Carolina: “North Carolina’s game fits me too. They like to get down the floor fast. They are a run and gun team and that’s what I like.”

Sparty vs Cal IMO

Well if you all weren't crying about it 24/7, Pollard wouldn't have been asked the question.
Yeah, who is the dumb bunny that asked the JP question in the first place? If you cannot stand the answer, do not ask the question.

Frankly, I would be shocked if Fred left this early with much more to be accomplished.
