Thanks for the pep talk Rock, apparently my retirement day needs to be pushed back a couple of years because now I need to buy my family comfort plus seating on flights to avoid people reclining their seats back onto my knees.
And once again you're trying too hard. Your insults need work.

Passengers being this upset about the reclined seats has me really worried about a potential trip in November with my family. We will have almost 3 year old boy (who is a handful) and six month old by that time. I'm sure I'll get plenty of negative parental judgement on the flights.
We have flown several times with our 2.5 year old. Generally, most get it and understand that it isn't easy flying with a little one and are very respectful, helpful, give attention, and understanding for the most part. Yeah, I know it sucks for some people having kids around you because they're noisy, inconsiderate, and kick your seat, but so far we have had pretty decent experiences from our surroundings. Our little one does love flying and can for the most part can handle looking out the window, watch his ipad and eat and take a little nap. He has been fussy before and the first time flying with the odd layovers and hours he was ok with some tantrums. But generally, you're always going to run into d**k heads who are entitled and careless when it comes to traveling sometime or another.

I recline sometimes. I think it just depends on my environment, the flight duration, and time of day. I do take note of my surroundings and try and read the room with my actions. I do always laugh at the people who stir and stand up so quickly when landing like they're somehow going to get off sooner and "I have a flight to catch!" Ahh, so do the rest of us...but if we reach our destination we always let others off first and take our time. With a little one, we just have more to round up.

It's the people that put their headphones on and let their kids run wild that get the (deserved) scorn.

Yeah, I remember one time on a flight there was a family with 2 kids, and they had 3 seats together and one separate.

For whatever reason instead of having one parent watch both kids, they sent one kid up into the separate seat and the two parents sat together. This kid was acting out the entire flight, hitting the attendant call button, etc, and they did nothing

You may, you may not. The baby will probably cry on takeoff & landing. If you can time a feeding to takeoff, the swallowing really helps their ears to pop, and it's less painful for them.
As for the toddler - there are a number of little travel backpacks that come with activities and quiet little toys. If you engage with your kids and keep them entertained as much as possible, you'll do fine.

I think the baby will likely be fine, but he has a strong set of lungs already.

The toddler is the one I am most worried about. Just getting him on the plane will be an achievement. He likes to run away, throw things, scream, bite, etc. I might have to resort to videos of tractors on my phone just to get through it.

Part of it is that when our oldest was nine months old, we flew to Hawaii with my parents. One passenger saw us with a baby and scolded us and let out a loud sigh in disgust. This was before we even sat down. Our daughter only fussed for about 5 minutes the whole flight, but the passenger's reaction put us on edge the whole flight. Luckily, I had my parents and siblings to help.

Crying babies aren't that bad. Head phones easy solution.

Kid did not recline seat. So all is good.

I hope all goes well for you!

I sometimes genuinely wonder if certain parents who just let their kids go berserk on flights do so just to be polite and include the rest of us strangers in their bad decision making. While I'm all for letting kids cry it out when they don't get what they want, there's a time and a place for that; an airplane is not that place.
