Rebekah Dahlman

Yesterday Rebekah narrowed her choices to three--Iowa state, Vanderbilt and Florida. She informed Minnesota and Tennessee coaches that she was no longer considering their schools.

Holly Warlick is an unproven head coach, so things are going to be much different when she has to make the decisions. Top players in the past went to Tennessee to play for Pat, now they are playing for a coach who has zero wins as a head coach. A much different outlook as a player.

The question on recruiting at TN was just that. But, once Pat made the announcement verbals came in. Holly will have a lot to prove, and I was not impressed with her on court coaching, but at the same time, hard to be the "coach" with Pat on the bench. Don't know if Holly will deliver or not, but she has one heck of a class this year, and has in my opinion some of the best assistant coaches in the business.

Very good news. Is there a link, or did you hear it through the grapevine?

I imagine she'll be making a verbal within the next couple of weeks.

Well thats good to hear, I'd say we have a pretty good shot of seeing her in a Cyclone uniform

Florida is a good program. I think even BF has a high opinion of Amanda Butler, the Gators HC

Three very high caliber coaches, all with wicked knowledge of point guard/combo guard play. I think Dahlman is a pretty smart cookie.

MN and TN both have struggled with that. TN has had some of the best PG recruits in the county, and they have not had any luck in converting them to top stars. The last notable PG was Shannon Bobbit, and she and Candance Parker delivered the NC two years in a row. And Bobbit walked in the door with the skills. And MN, since Whalen, has taken a lot of criticism in the guard court front.

in other news, at the annual web surfing academy awards, the award for best web sleuth award of the year goes to MRed. No big surprise to anyone, as MRed has owned this category for three years straight! :-)

The funny thing is I wasn't even looking for it. I just went to the UM WBB board to see what the reaction was there, and someone there had posted it.

Modesty becomes you but that doesn't change the fact that you post and share awesome stuff!

Tennessee...... Will be hard to compete with a storied program, but without Pat Summitt, it's going to give us a chance.

Now that Tennessee is out of the running what are we up against.

Greenfield went for the big change of scenery in the Golden State. I can't believe it wasn't just for the Stanford tradition as much as the climate and culture. Same with Minnesota's Trapp going to UCLA. Dahlman is down to us, Vandy and the Gators. The trend would have Florida being Dahlman's choice and maybe her folks would like to get away in winter to the Gulf.

The SEC is good but if you want to play in the best conference the Big XII is where WBB lives. By the way the attendance is poor at Florida and Rebekah wants that fan support and interaction so that is a big plus. We are south of Central Minnesota (ha), but close enough for her family to swing down often for a game. She has a tough choice, if she hasn't already made it, but we are in this. I will not be surprised if she heads to Florida though.

Hopefully Samantha Logic's move to buck the trend of top tier H.S. talent heading for sunshine was one good thing out her going to Iowa.

wonder how her visit went in flordia this past weekend

Dahlman has "Go Gator"s on her FB page, for what it is worth. The Gators beat LSU so it was a big time win in front of a rabid mass of fans. I am sure that left an impression. Florida has some recent success in WBB but nothing earth shaking and usually in front of a few thousand fans if that.

That's disturbing, but we'll keep the faith. I would think high profile recruits would have the passion to play in front of 10,000+ fans on a consistent basis if possible (not to mention a highly successful program yearly). When they chose differently, I don't get it!!!!!!!

Eh. Someone asked her if she was in Florida. She said she was, and added Go Gators. Makes sense since she was going to be going to the Florida football game. Nothing worth over-analyzing.

Recruiting banter as how I mostly saw it. Florida needing immediate help at guard play, having a good guard coach, and competing in a the SEC in the warmth of of the Gulf are all appeals that maybe concerns. Vandy has a lot to offer too starting with being in Nashville, but they seem to be with three/four underclassling point guards.

Kidd and Nikki will vie with Rebekah in the future one position and regardless of rating those are some tough competitors. For instance a while back I came across a video of Kidd in some training drills-seeingly D-1 ready condition-wise when first walking in the door at Sukup and we know she has game. Believe she favors Vanderbilt over Florida and the Cyclones - she will be announcing soon.

Vandy is one of the three programs she feels comfortable with, so it wouldn't surprise me if that was her option. Vandy is a fantastic school and with immense endowments. More often than not we have a hard time attracting the very top Midwest players despite us having over twice the attendance (of Vandy), the coach of the University Games and a record of success.

Vandy is a good medical school, but their court stinks, and the benches are on the end of the court.... a real weird way to sit through games....

I thought the minfan's post was somewhat confusing, as in could be ready down to vandy (over Florida) and the Clones, or favors Vandy over both Florida and Clones.
