The Big and SEC hate being viewed as the bad guy, so that's just what they would be saying (if this conversation is actually happening). However, they will gladly be the savior that saves Clemson, UNC, FSU, Miami, Virginia, etc. from certain doom that was somehow created by the Big 12.I listened to a podcast this morning that had 2 respected members of the media on. One said that clemson and miami had put out feelers, and the BIG and SEC are not interested. Neither brings in 70 million to pay their own way or opens new markets. and the SEC doesnt want FSU, although the BIG does.
If UNC, UVA, and FSU leave, the big 12 would have its pick of the rest. The guy said yormark and the big 12 would only take 4--would not expand beyond 20.
my dart at the wall is big 12 would take clemson, vt, pitt, miami.
it would be hard not to take nc state and louisville, but if the line is 20, who gets left out?
Can we kick out houston and take nc state?
They’d also bring in those others at a discount for a few years, like Rutgers/Maryland in past and UO and UW most recently. The Big and SEC hate being viewed as the bad guy, so that's just what they would be saying (if this conversation is actually happening). We should take NC State over Miami all day every day.I listened to a podcast this morning that had 2 respected members of the media on. Feels like that was coming more from Gonzaga to try and bait a Pac bid when that was still possible. I'm sure Yormark was listening, but getting AD's and university presidents on board with that was always going to be a stretch.this gonzaga talk has quieted down a bit, no?
I think they're waiting on what happens with the Pac2/Mountain West thing to resolve itself before they make a decision. If that shakes out right that might be their preference from a travel perspective and it's a definite step up from the WCC.this gonzaga talk has quieted down a bit, no?

Can we just assume a losing record in conference could still get you a two seed in the NCAA tourny? That’s one brutal basketball conference.
I think its as the post said they are not additive to the money, or the markets. They only subtract from the others.I'd be curious as to the reason why they wouldn't be interested. It's possible that neither conference wants to add either of them now since they are going to be in the process of onboarding several new schools. Plus, it's not like they wouldn't jump ship to either of them in the future. Really, there's no point in rushing adding either Clemson or FSU.
The SEC is in a spot where there are no schools available for them to get that would expand their market as the ACC and SEC overlap. The Big 10 is in a great spot in that regards.

Which is a big reason why both are getting half shares (B12 type money) from B10 through 2031.The Big Ten was once rumored to be adamant that Washington and Oregon were money losers too...so I'm guessing they take Miami at the very least.
ESPN and SEC can't even reach agreement on ESPN paying extra for a 9th conference game amongst the existing 16 SEC schools. Not sure if that is due to ESPN cash flow issues or SEC demanding more money than ESPN is willing to pay. So there is now no way the SEC expands in the foreseeable future.I'd be curious as to the reason why they wouldn't be interested.
