Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

BYU is actually a solid academic school and somewhat selective, they don't take you just because you're a practicing Mormon. I think there's another school in the area that has a majority-Mormon enrollment, but is for the lesser academic talent. I want to say Weber State, but I forget for sure the school offhand.
Utah Valley University (UVU) is the other. 100% acceptance rate and around 40,000 students.

I don't get why some are down on adding UC and UH. They've both won basketball national championships. They've both had top 5 football teams. And they're both in top 25 media markets. What's not to like for the B12? Spotty attendance I presume is the main sticking point? You'd think that will improve once they become B12 regulars.

UCF, that one I get as a legit question mark. Outside of UF and FSU football, Florida isn't exactly known as a hotbed of sports fans. I'd bet that even today, half the kids enrolled at UCF for fall semester don't even know they're now in the B12 conference. And prolly don't care, either.
I went to a Cincy vs. Temple football game two years ago in Cincy and it was sold out. Temple sucked, and obviously Cincy was really good and made the playoff that year, but the atmosphere was very good. Their tailgating scene wasn't bad either, more like Iowa City vibes due to it being a city, but their facilities and stadium were fun to explore.

The ACC’s seat seems to be getting quite warm with how everything is playing out. This seems like a Hail Mary attempt from their own goal line to keep FSU and Clemson at the table.

I suppose if you torture the data enough you might come up with something.

Maybe ESPN adds $15-20M per team for the PAC to join the ACC, and they convince BC, Cuse, LVille, WSU, OSU, Cal, Wake, GT to take lesser shares just to survive, and give the extra money to FSU, Clemson, UO, and UW.

That might not be a Hail Mary, that might be the whole Rosary...

This Arizona State fan nailed it! He is right too.

Very good point, the best road games are the places that care about their football. I remember going to a game in Lawrence a few years back and it felt like walking into a morgue with very little tailgating. Contrast that with going to a game in Lincoln. Yea their fans have a hard time spelling their own name and their tailgating has a weird setup. However it was fun to be around a lot of football fans and experience the atmosphere.

Judging by the looks of pac games on television. I would wager games are more like Lawrence’s atmosphere instead of a Lincoln one.

wonder if years down the line it actually ends up being 2 mega conferences "North" and "South"

Pac 12 gets split up - just stuck in no man's land out West so half go to North half to South.

might argue South would be so much better than North - but i don't think so if put USC Oregon Wash Utah all in North. along with Michigan, OSU, Notre Dame, Penn St....(Wisc Iowa KSt Cincy....)

6 teams from North and 6 teams from South go to a playoff. could always weight it with rankings somehow like BCS so maybe some years it's 8 teams from South and 4 from North. who knows who cares.

anyway back to regular scheduled programming.

did we add the cactus states yet?

I really can't get behind a UCONN addition. And such, I feel UU > UCONN.
I just feel like this is what BY is wanting to do. The $$ ceiling potential for UCONN is higher and there's BB. Get UCONN in a bigger league and I think you'd be surprised at what their football could become. If not, then ISU will have someone to curb stomp once in a while.

I think it's because BY is from the northeast and values basketball.

I really don't see UConn doing much football wise. Hell, I don't even know the last time I've seen a BC game on tv.
