Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Big12 had no reason to negotiate either, and took appx 50% of the amount owed.

Exit fees - 2 years @ $35M each = $70M. Plus their GoR for 1 year. That's EACH. But we got $100M (minus Fox cut $20M). Total.

So Big12 got $80M of $140M exit fees (57%), and ZERO for 1 year of GoR.

The much longer ACC GoR has a lot more leverage than the 1 year vs OuT, so that is important. But still, you CAN run the numbers on such a thing.

I guess my point is that you can probably cut that number in half as a practical step. So say $340M ($120+$220). Cut that down to $200M. But if you get $50M more annual, and are guaranteed a spot at the big table forever, that's a no brainer investment.

And if you think the conference can hold their feet to the fire and force them to pay up every last cent... I doubt it. The Hateful 8 couldn't make it happen. Rarely does something like this not get settled. Clemson and FSU could countersue the ACC for dereliction of duty or some such trumped up crap, and string this thing out forever. And there will be motivation for the conference to get on with it.

I am not saying this is imminent or will happen this way exactly. It's probably closer to 2030 than today.

Another way: if the over/under for FSU leaving the ACC was 2035 (GoR expires 2036), would you take the over?
The numbers you quote for getting out of the conf is from the future contract. Not the current one.

We dont currently get 32M from the media, that is after the new contract starts. Fox 1/3 is not 20M for 2 currently.

This. *******. Guy.

I like the complaint about getting to the press conferences on time. Yeah, the press is too far away and will be late. I'm sure they're going to start all of those press conferences with no media in the room.

I couldn’t effing believe Randy asked that question.

With all the realignment news happening, the new Big12 contract we stole from the PAC, the enhancements to the Big12 tourney, the idea to part the contracts for basketball & football, adding additional basketball only schools to the conference.

And this old barnacle wants to ***** about his seat being moved. What a twat.

Keep giving Randy even worse seats. Until he finally quits.

I don't follow him at all, unless it's discussed on here. But he seems to have an entitlement problem. Like, he's entitled to having the best seats in the house for free vs those willing to pay $1,000+ for the same seat.

Personally, I prefer bird eye view type of seats myself, so I would love to have his seat.

Also, look for him to do a back handed comment in his next article when talking about the ISU game.

Can't get trampled in a court storming if you can't get right on the court.

Some Randy sympathizer asked how he could get to the press conference on time.

Randy replied, “They said there’s an Express Elevator. We’ll See.”

There either is or isn’t an express elevator. Randy needs to listen to Bruce Protchard’s podcast because “PRONOUNS PAL”. Who is “They”? Why would “they” lie about an express elevator?

Does anyone know if Randy is of the political persuasion that feeds off this type of thinking? Or is he just an lead paint brain boomer?

Whilst I am all about the Randy bashing (he's a dork who is bad at his job, at best), I will say what BY did here makes sense. With the explosion of media outlets these days - every doorknob who can type is running some kind "sportslivezone247+365liveamericachannel" outlet. They must get hundreds of media pass requests. It's not like 1975 when Randy started out, and there was only ABC, CBS, NBC, AP, UPI, and the local paper.

If BY really wanted to have some fun, he would put about a half-dozen media up close and relegate the rest to the ceiling.
