Maybe Big Ten people taking Hollywood vacations will boost the prices and demand, but regular season UCLA games are REALLY easy tickets. Way easier than ISU or Iowa tickets.
$30-40 for a regular season game or $2000 ticket to watch Iowa get Christian McCaffrey'd in the Rose bowl? I know which ticket I'm buying as a Hawkeye or Spartan fan planning a vacation.

All factual. USC campus is AMAZING. UCLA, fantisically located near Beverly Hills. UCLA has location issue for its’ football stadium.
My enjoyment in this is the Rose Bowl committee shitting themselves.
Assuming they take rest of what they want on the west coast. I'd add UNC/ND and stop carving up the pie knowing the rest adds little or is SEC bound. Maybe they feel they need to be represented in mountain zone and get CU/Utah but I mean is it really necessary?

As long as we’re all putting conferences together NCAA 14 video game style, why couldn’t Keith Jackson and Bear Bryant come down from the mountaintop with eight 10-team conferences, each champion moves on to an eight-team playoff?
Imagine the money that setup would pull in with media rights … more than enough for everybody! Well, except Texas, probably.

I may be a minority but I prefer to be in the second tier if it shakes out that the BIG and SEC are the top tier and Big 12, ACC and PAC (if it survives) are the next tier. (I would prefer a regional more equitable structure but I am not so naive to believe that is even a possibility).
Yes, the Big 10 and SEC will makes TONS of money.
Yes, our in-state rival will get their share which gives them a competitive edge.
However, to compete with Alabama and Ohio State the other 34 teams in the super conferences will need to spend, spend, spend. Only one team can win.
If we are in the next tier and still see revenue growth, our athletes can still get compensated a little, get exposure to go pro, and (shocker) get an education. I love beating Texa$ with all their resources now and will love beating the power 2 in the future.
I would rather be one of the best teams of the Power 2/3 than be a punching bag in the Utra Power 2.
Yeah I don’t get the Colorado love unless you are making an assumption on demographics. Utah is never mentioned either but i would be down with them joining. UNC and ND are just perfect fits, Virginia too for that matter
Best case scenario for us is the B1G takes those first four, and we get to add Arizona, ASU, Colorado, and Utah. The B1G is 20 schools and us and the SEC are at 16. The SEC (and probably the B1G as well) will surely poach from the ACC one day, and both those super-conferences will be over 20 schools. Only our league will be in a position to absorb 6 or so of the valuable ACC leftovers and then we will be the mid-tier conference while Washington State, Oregon State, Wake Forest, maybe Boston College end up demoted to the G5.
No way the Big 10 adds Stanford, Cal, Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Colorado. If that happens, I would not be interested in Oregon St and Washington St. Just the AZ schools.

Ehh. Iowa has sucked forever though. I think Nebraska just needs the right staff. Could see them really hitting California hard in recruiting.
I think if it stays just at 2 defectors, then who knows they might try to make it work. But if the Pac loses a couple more, especially Oregon and Washington. Then all bets are off, I dont see how they survive that. My guess would be if 4-6 end up in the B1G then the rest look to join the Big 12. But who knows this stuff works out in very strange ways sometimes.
And if any of this makes some ACC schools jumpy well who knows, it just depends on if they figure out any way out of their GOR they are stuck in.
GA Tech only ever mattered if the Big 10 still considered AAU a requirement and was looking to expand regionally (i.e., raiding the ACC like was being considered a decade ago). With me guessing AAU not really mattering anymore and the entire map open to them, GA Tech doesn't matter at all.
Yeah I think the Big12 is actually very well positioned for this. If Fox has the big ten, espn has the sec, that leaves alot of other media groups competing for cfb games with the Big12 being the only real conference left.
I'll assume you're being a realist instead of a D*** because you're right. The minute it became Power Two, ISU had absolutely no chance, they had a slim big ten chance as a ND partner if it had shook out into 4 somewhat even power conferences of about 16 teams each. It still sucks the state government and voters did their best to strip ISU of AAU status, but in the end even that didn't matter. That part still sucks as someone who paid for a degree from ISU when it was ranked much higher in the world than it is now, but that sucks independent of college sports fandom.
There were once realistic worst case scenarios where it was Power 4 and ISU (and 2-4 other B12 schools) were not included in power four. Three separate occasions that nearly happened.
Today it seems that is impossible for ISU/KSU/Baylor/OKSt/Tech/KU who lived through it...but incredibly possible for Oregon State and Washington state. That there is a top 2, then a second level 2...then OreSt/WSU could be outside that while all these other schools like BYU/Utah/Houston/Cincy are suddenly in.
The idea of Power 4 and/or Power 5 dies today.
It's Power 2. Group of 2. Group of 5. Big question is how big is the competitive gap between those three? I have a hard time thinking Rutgers and Vandy and Indiana will ever be consistently amazing teams compared to the top half of this new Big12/Pac combo or whatever the ACC ends up being. I mean Rutgers and Vandy have already been getting way more media money than Baylor and OK State and they totally suck compared to them.
