I would be VERY surprised if the Big10 TV deal is paying schools $100M in 2023/24. IMO that is an average over the contract. Maybe what Big10 schools could make in 2028/29.
I hear you, but if they do nothing, then the ACC is a dead man walking.
I think they HAVE to at least gamble on grabbing teams to try to become the 3rd Power conference. Essentially, they need FSU, Clemson, and Miami to WANT to keep the ACC alive as the 3rd Power conference and stay in it. If they don't want that and want to go SEC when the time comes, then nothing will happen now and the ACC is over. If they do want that, then the ACC must go add teams asap starting with Wash and Oregon.
This is FOX versus ESPN for Tier 1 rights.

The Bay schools are irrelevant to streamers but cash cows for linear providers. B1G seems to prefer markets and brands over just MBB and FB power. Cal and Stanford give the B1G total control of the most populated state for BTN.

Good points…it’s long shot. But it’s not that different than their claim Rutgers gets them nyc…if they want “Texas” it’s TCU or Houston.
I only bring it up because some rumor had TCU on list…and I think TCU is as big in their market as Maryland is in DC (which is to say not that big but I guess it doesn’t matter for big ten only).
And then the best 24 will split off to be the SuperLeague. The rest will be JV. Money will be about 3 to 1.
A lot of ifs, I get it. One option is to have the other conferences destroy the PAC12. When that happens, it leaves 4 conferences. If we stay conference style, and not have a break away, four conferences will probably be needed, this allows the ACC to maybe not be the big ten or SEC, but be a conference near the Big 12. If the big schools can bump up 40 MM per year, you think they won't leave? They will, the ACC is in trouble either way.
The NCAA will be irrelevant from a CFB standpoint in less than a year.
Yes I believe the six Pac12 schools I mention have significant TV rights value. All higher than about 50% of the new Big12.
IMO schools like ASU, UU, CU, etc have more TV value in the Big12 than Pac12.
Agreed. It’s not like USC & UCLA have been dominating that conference. They just go back to being the PAC 10 minus a couple Prima Donnas.
16 really feels like the limit to me. How can you be a conference when you’re not even playing half the other members on a regular basis?

CU is limited. ASU maybe, have inlaws there and they don't follow them much. I agree that their value in the big 12 is more than PAC 12 due to match ups and time slots.
They just absolutely do not have the leverage to be aggressive. They’ll be the conference pulling from the AAC now, and I bet ESPN is already moving the pieces to backfill.
Its been reported that the B10 told them "no" last night, and they are not planning any further expansion.
Look if the invite is out there for both teams, they are going to go to the B10, more money, better academics and the rest of it, but what if the reports are correct and the B10 turned them down? Do they try to reform the P12 by adding and are CU, Utah and the rest of the league going to be willing to sit around knowing that if Oregan and Washington get an B10 invite they will be gone?

That is not a stable option moving forward. Maybe in 2010, but this is a new game.
Can we get a link to something substantive on this idea that teams had to notify the Pac last night of their intentions regarding grant of rights to the league? Because I haven't seen it reported anywhere besides being discussed on this board, and if teams were leaving en masse it surely would have hit social media by now.
