They can't afford to do that, it allows NC and Va to go to the big ten and Miami and others to go to the SEC. They they will have less.

I was in Boulder a few weeks and you would barely even know that CU is there and we were only a few miles from the campus.
Not sure if you mentioned 2 from a posturing perspective or we only want 2.
If you look at current Big12 revenue on a school basis, it is all pretty even (within $15M) once you exclude UT & OU.
Same goes for the 3 new Big12 schools if they had Big12 TV contract vs. AAC.
Pac12 AD revenues for CU, UU, ASU, UA, Cal & Stanford are all in the same range as the existing Big12 members. So if those 6 teams are available- all 6 are no brainers to add to Big12.
That would get us to an 18 team conference. Then I think we sit tight for a decade to see if the ACC GOR implodes.
Honestly agree. That combined with NIL are terrible. I’ve just found other things to do on Saturdays in the fall. Usually the best weather of the year so no loss.
Our money did not go down when we lost them. We can have them whenever we want. This all is in Oregons and Washingtons lap.
Just because a team is making that much now does not mean they are worth that much. USC was the big dog in that conference. Taking UCLA kills the LA market for the PAC (if it was there to begin with is another question). CU does nothing for us, same as UT, they are there if we want them. Only reason we take a PAC 12 team quickly is to kill it off. They very well may be rallying the troops to hold a ten team league like the big 12 did.
I would say the cities are similar but the general following if the Gophers is much better outside of the TC’s than CU’s following is outside of Cowtown.

Yeah they will pull away…and in the long run real top flight pro sports will be what gains fandom as a person who would’ve been an ISU or KSU fan just becomes a KC Chiefs only fan.
If we were eager to take Houston, UCF and Cincy. The Big12 will be falling all over itself to add any Pac12 team other than Oregon State & Washington State.
If $100m per team in the B1G is true, I don’t think there’s much chance of sitting back and saving the PAC. The remaining top teams aren’t going to want to be 75% behind in revenue for 10+ years. I think the only way to add value for them now is to get creative and get aggressive (and hypothetically adding Kansas and Boise State to fill the 2 voids ain’t gonna cut it).
I also think the ACC has near zero leverage. The wolves are on the outside and the moment they open the gates I think it’s over…too much chaff over there.
They were talking a lot about market size and the rest of it last night on ESPN Sat college sports, and I do not know if anyone knows just how important being in a large market is anymore.
Look at Houston, top 5 market in the US, but they have few fans, does having Houston in the league really add any more money or not? Same could be said about LA, SF and most of the West Coast teams, large markets with few fans.
As we move more into streaming does it really matter if the team is in LA or Ames, when you have to purchase Hulu or Amazon to get it, then I am not sure it really matters. How much of a money grab is getting the state of California to the B10, its was great with Rutgers 8 years ago, but are those numbers the same today?
Because we were at 8. 8 was death. 12 is stable. We are in two totally different scenarios. Can't compare the two.
I'd love for TCU to get picked off by the SEC or Big 10. Opens up a spot for a better program. They give you a physical presence but no eyeballs. Baylor is far better at football and MBB. Yes, there is baggage and they sometimes stink to deal with. But I'd rather have Louisville, Pitt, Va Tech, Oregon, Washington than TCU

Someone needs to be the leader of these "misfit toys" universities (including ISU). Form one unified conference from coast to coast. We need to recognize who we are and that there are a bunch of universities in a similar situation. The remainder Big 12, Pac 10 and ACC should work together. instead of begging for the scraps from the big 10 / sec....but that will take a clear voice and leadership, and I don't know who that is.

But is 12 stable? Is 12 enough inventory to make the Big12 attractive to a streaming player like Amazon, Apple+, Peacock, etc.
IMO a platform like Apple or Amazon would put more per school value in an 18 team Big12 vs. 12 team Big12.
It is considered a conference at minimum. NCAA has said that 10 is the minimum to have for a conference. So, yes 12 is stable enough to survive which was our goal at the time. We now have opportunities, we don't need to find a way to survive. The PAC 12 is standing at the edge like we were for so long. Big question is, are the 3-6 teams in the PAC with 10 as valuable as the 3-6 teams in the Big 12 when we were at 10?
