Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

8-3-2023 Realignment grades thus far:

A++: Jason Scheer - dude is killing it. Accurate yet witty.
A++: Brett Yormark - he's cut from the Pollard mold. Thinks proactive vs. reactive.
A+: Remaining Big 12 Schools in 2021 for sticking together and taking the time necessary to figure out the right plan.
A+: Cyclone fans - we've never been in this type of situation and we are damn sure celebrating it correctly with hilarious memes/gifs
A+: The refresh button on our browsers
A: Brett McMurphy, College Football Reddit, 365 Sports,
A-: Heartland College Sports - A little Big12 homerish but hell we deserve to be on this side of things for once!
B+: Bowlsby - Even though blindsided by OuT, had schools ready to go after and kept remaining schools in a state of solidarity.
D-: Stewie Mandell - upgrades from an F as he said he'll plan to go back on Williams/Blum's podcast.
F: John Canzano - you tried....you tried.
F: Larry Scott and George Kliavkoff - pretty sure those two got drunk one night and made a bet against each other who could tank the Pac12 worse.
F-: Tony Altimore - LOLOLOLOL

HM: I-80 Truck Stop, Washington State and Oregon State (they deserve some love),

Might have worded that wrong. Meant our road to become B12 champ is now much harder. I know probably multiple B12 teams will make the playoff

I would disagree because now there is no OUT and we can play the schedule game. If we get an outlier ISU team in a good schedule season we can get there. I like those odds better than the old round Robin with OuT in the mix.

Nope you're good I got it now. I may be in the minority but I think it'll be easier now to win a Big 12 Championship..

We’ll definitely be less likely to run into an absolutely loaded team we can’t match up against even with a generational great team if our own.

In 00s Texas and OU had some truly dominant teams.

OU has had some dominant teams in the past 5 years. That was always the roadblock. We needed miracles in the old Big 12. Not so much now.

I would love some of our best Campbell teams to have had a b12 north schedule in a year we had tech and back when Baylor was still horrible. But Nebraska can be modern Nebraska :)

Basically a little b10 west cake slice at least once with a more dangerous team.

Sure it is. I still get it. It's also pretty immature for a conference to turn down a school because its fans on Twitter are annoying. Good thing Yormark knows better.
I just want to see them turned down for the memes. At this point I’m just glad Iowa State is in a relatively safe situation at the moment

Wilner: D-: Pretty much John Canzano light and slightly less a D-bag

Has there been any announcements about the other corner schools or are we just making assumptions because of the B1G rumors?
We need a ticker timeline that just shows official stuff.

Arizona Board of Regents meeting again today. Assumed it is to give the green light for, at minimum, UA to move.

Your grade for Scott and Kliavkoff is somehow still too high.

The teams having down years will be lucky to get a few games on real tv now I’m guessing. I just think smaller is better, and I wish small regional conferences could be a thing again.
I think 99% of everyone wants smaller, more regional conferences. But the tv money wants consolidation to maximize value, and the money they are throwing at that is forcing schools to sign up out of fear of being left behind.

Eventually that consolidation drive is going to put intense pressure to have a superleague with 24 ish teams. It will be interesting to see if universities finally push back on that or not. But so far, money is undefeated.

I wish this had all happened prior to promoting G5 schools like UCF, Cincy, and Houston. I'd rather have WSU, OSU than UCF & Houston.
You can wish in one hand...

I hear what you are saying, but with improved money and visibility, I would guess all 3 of the adds are long term, better choices.

Look at it this way - if WSU and OSU were in the MWC rather than the PAC, which 3 of those 5 schools would you take? Based on geography and potential... its the same 3 isn't it?
