RB Xavier Robinson Commitment Watch

To be fair, OU has put RBs in the NFL quite a bit as well. Do Adrian Peterson, Samaje Perine, Joe Mixon, and DeMarco Murray ring any bells?

Honestly OU is one school I wouldn't put us up against if we're comparing RBs in recent history.
Now name the 4 stars who never got off the bench there

Depth chart at OU really doesn't mean what it did a few years ago. The portal allows a kid to go there, give it a shot for a year or two and instantly move on if it doesn't work. You have to stay in college at least 3 years in fb so there isn't any pressure to play early like basketball.

For those thinking he wouldn't play meaningful snaps at OU, watch the kid's film. Eerily similar to Breece Hall's HS film. And Breece would have been RB1 at every school in the country.
I'll never understand the desire of fans to claim a player we really want will never see the field at school "X". It's like saying "this guy isn't that good, therefore he should come here". No thanks. I want players that are good enough to play anywhere.

I'd be fine putting us up against Oklahoma comparing running back's in recent history if it's based on character and morals. That's one matchup we would be miles ahead of the Sooners on since Mixon is one of the lousiest human being's in the game right now.

Adrian Peterson was a real piece of work off the field as well.

Since 2016, OU has put in 4, and we have put in 3. However, give me Montgomery, Hall, and Nwangu over Mixon, Perine, Rodney Anderson, who never played, and Rhamondre Stevenson. Its a closer comparison than you think. This did not include this year however, but its not like Eric Gray makes a big difference

The Bob Stoops led OU teams put RBs into the NFL. Lincoln Riley as a HC never got a RB into the NFL (unless you count Kennedy Brooks). Eric Gray got drafted this last year from OU, but he was at Tennessee prior to that and probably would’ve gotten drafted from there (or anywhere he went) regardless. But I’ll give Venables, Gray, for arguments sake.

OU doesn’t have the recent track record Campbell has when it comes to putting solid RBs into the league.

Their next best RB last year was a freshman who will probably be their starter this year.

For us, Jirehl and Eli will probably be our two main backs this year - who knows if Norton will stay healthy - then next year, Jirehl will be gone and there will be ample PT opportunities for Robinson if he comes in and is a stud like he appears to be

Rhamondre Stevenson would like a word

Yeah, and a weird cutoff point as well. There's no contextual difference between being the OC and the HC in this situation and that particular cutoff just happens to leave out two guys who were on the same roster who have been at least good backs in the NFL.

Any high quality football player worth their salt whole heartedly believes they will beat their competition.
I think it's extremely short sighted to assume that there aren't guys out there that evaluate the roster for playing time (including good ones) when selecting a school.

When we talk about RBs Campbell has put in the NFL, do we give credit to Campbell for putting them into the NFL or Tom Manning and whoever was his OC at Toledo?

Again, context. Was Bob Stoops, a lifetime defensive coordinator, doing a lot with the offense?
