He didn't get here soon enough to get a good first class. Another problem was there was no playing time available Niangs senior year so no one would bite. So 1st year was tough. Next year isnt here yet. And Lard? Cross ur fingers. Give Prohm a chance. You know this is his 3rd class, right? Yes Fred did him no favors with his first.
If I were to have been a basketball recruit the summary would have been the exact opposite on every one of those points.
Lard would have been a borderline top 100 if he didn't have the academic problems. He basically has a redshirt year too which will help.
Obviously we still need to get him to Ames. But hopefully we hear good news this weekend.
I think there is a lot riding on Lard.
I agree. Huge wildcard. No idea what to expect out of Lard.

interesting comment from a Tennessee fan back when he committed to ISU. Also the comment about the 7 schools in 6 years plays into my earlier post that he's a bit of a head case.
Lewis was just outside of the top 100 and is basically a top 100 guy. I get it that you and some other fans hate Prohm but don't act like he can't recruit. He's only in his second season at ISU so you can't act like he's had three full seasons to recruit because that's not a fair assessment of him.Yea, I'm still skeptical on Prohms staffs recruiting. Wiggington is obviously a great get but we will need more than 1 top 100 kid every 3 years.
Hope Kasongo proves everyone wrong but the next positive thing I hear will be the first outside of some unexplicable McKay comparison.
Prohm got here in June and you're counting that as his first class?Ridiculous.
Murray St. level players, not Iowa St. level players.Prohm was recruiting players at his last job wasn't he? Same goes for his assistants I presume?

Not sure about "is", if you look at the current class, it's more of a "was". Prohm has a Sweet 16 and a top 20 class after coaching 1 season. So the issue is hiring a low-level head coach in the first place?
I wasn't in the hire Prohm camp, but the issue was employing the Bulls coach until June. Then Otz not going after UW recruits/transfers. No one in their right mind thinks Prohm has had three classes. 2017 is his first real class. It's not complete, but if every class has players this caliber we'll be fine.So the issue is hiring a low-level head coach in the first place?

I would agree there are certainly things you can be critical about with Prohm, but his recruiting seems to be an odd issue to take issue with. Given how long he's been here, I think he's done a remarkable job, and he still has room to improve next year's class with the remaining scholarships.
