Random Thread of Photography

You'll notice that I push color on most of my photos, so I do increase saturation usually in some form or another. That being said, I do try and keep them looking realistic. Considering that image is HDR, this effect just adds to the overall processing, but again I try to keep it natural. The shadows are enhanced because of the HDR technique, it saves blowouts and brings out the shadows, but can be done with an unpleasing effect. I like to keep the contrast as much as possible, but still utilize the benefit of the this shooting method.

If your free September 19th ??, Living History Farms has a Photography Workshop at which I teach the HDR method to those who stop by. I welcome you to check it out!

If you take a look through my website, you'll see that most of the colored photos are enriched. I'm inspired by work of photographers that use color as a complimenting subject to an otherwise already interesting composition.

Without getting into a heavy critique, which you didn't ask for anyway, I do like how you clearly move around to capture a shot. These are perspectives that are unusual and make for a more interesting photo.

Alright, this is commercial work, but thought it might interest others for landscape type stuff.

I did a maternity session out at the Ledges last night; I'll try and upload some samples later.

That looks like a postcard! Gorgeous!

I went on a day cruise one time in Kenai Fjords. It was in October, so there was no green anywhere - but it was lovely.

Thanks for your kind remarks Angie.
I usually shoot with a Canon DSLR, However this picture was taken with my phone!

Back to personal work. Just got this framed and hanging in the home.

A common shot for locals, and one that I never thought I would attempt. After a fantastic Friday evening in the middle of February, I decided what the heck, lets get out and shoot. Even after that, I never thought I would ever print or show the piece considering how common it is, but I was thrilled with the result. Seen in a way I've never seen others do before.

This is actually a pano of 3 shots stitched together. I was trying to maximize the quality of this shot to do as a comparison to some older photos I had taken in the past. I had purchased a new DSLR a few months prior to, but never really took an opportunity to compare to the older images. Lets say I'm happy with the purchase.

I just love these recent additions!

Is that real?! That's crazy.

That's amazing. I've always been interested in astrophotography, but never really taken the time to learn it.
My Mom's home would be a great place to get night sky pictures. She is far enough out that it is so dark at night that you can see so many stars because she doesn't get a lot of light pollution
