Our school didn't have the tradition of senior skip day, but there was always the senior prank. Ours involved the seniors sending a barrage of bottle rockets down the hall towards the junior class. It was not received well by the faculty.
If that was tried today, a SWAT team would probably get involved.
I'm pretty sure I spent mine working out with a college half-miler that my coach had brought in to help prep me for State.
Our principle is pretty strict about pranks so I don't think our classes will do one. He'll also probably give all the seniors that skipped detention.
I'm determined to throw my arm out tossing a football and/or baseball with my nephews. Every. Single. Time.
The detention is probably worth it. Most people I know that had a senior skip day still remember it years later. Some times you've gotta carpe diem.
Have fun whatever you do, just don't do anything to jeopardize graduation.

Most kids didn't bother with senior skip day at my school. Your punishment depended on what you told them. If you just skipped or told them you were skipping you got a smaller punishment than if your mom called you out sick or for an appt. Rumor was (never found out if it was true) that the the administration would drive around town looking for people skipping.

So, let me spin off a question. When I was in school, back in the medeval times, we started school usually the last Monday of August, and went through about the first Monday of June. Standard two weeks off for Christmas vacation, one week for spring/Easter. (Our spring break was always the week after Easter) This was standard from kindergarten through HS. A quick look at my K-8 school district shows they seem to still hold to that. My HS, though, has its last day of classes (2 finals basically) the Thursday before Memorial Day, and then they're back for first day of classes on August 17th.
I know this has been the norm for awhile, but can any parents shed a light on why, and perhaps if you like it or not?
Up here until recently it was against State law to start before Labor Day although a lot of schools got waivers to start early. It makes it easy to take the kids to the State Fair that ends on Labor Day but it also means that school goes well into June.
lol my principal just made an announcement say "there'll be serious consequences if you skip class" which is definitely just a scare tactic
Ours involved moving a Volkswagen beetle into the center courtyard of the school. It involved "borrowing" a crane from the construction site on the other side of the campus (one of the seniors was the son of the foreman).
It has been so long since I've had a job interview that I would probably drop dead in a panic attack.
