Not even 9:00 and wxman is bored with surfin' aviation sites. ;)

I am going to be chairing a meeting of the Bored as Hell on this Poopie Cold Rainy Minnesota Day Club later. I'll send you the call in number.

Anything is going to be better than Live with Kelly and Ryan. She just announced that Seacrest is her new cohost. This is way too fake now.

Note to wxman, when home and not working do not turn on weekday daytime TV. Some people believe Americans have heart attacks and strokes because they eat and drink way too much and don't exercise. The real cause is daytime TV.

Had my appendix removed on my 9th birthday. We postponed my birthday party for one month so I could enjoy eating things I like.

Better late than never (birthday party and responding to the question about appendices).

Took a quick trip to KC and back this weekend. I have driven an entire trip in the rain before but my FIL commented to me that he was amazed at how long we were driving through hard driving (no pun intended) rains continuously. Dropped the In laws off in DSM and continued home and it rained even harder all the way home. We even started to encounter standing water on pretty well drained highways as we got to the Twin Cities; gravity apparently couldn't keep up. (Gravity: it isn't just a good idea, it's the law!)

I'm sick of driving through rain so of course I had continuous rain, albeit not quite torrential, all the way in to work this morning.

Not a big fan of crows. Also glad I have no starlings or grackles. Boo them.

I wonder if the crows still gather in the big pine trees on the south side of lake Laverne? They used to be thick there at dusk when I was in school.

Every year I have my springtime battle with the grackles. It started the year we moved in. the grackles were irritating but I didn't start the war until the poop incident. I started seeing a ton of bird crap on our deck. I soon noticed the grackles carrying a bag of crap from their nests and dropping it on our deck. Mrs. Velo didn't believe me that they did this until she saw it herself. War was on and I starting destroying nests before they could lay any eggs every year. The trees have gotten too tall to get at the nests with a ladder so I need to invest in something like Boxster has resorted to in his war on Bobs (tree rats).

Justification for my war has been reinforced when I see things like a nesting dove pecked to death because she dared to nest in the same yard as the horde of grackles.

Dirty, nasty birds; we hates them, we do!

When my dad was dying I drove from Omaha to Blacksburg in pretty much a storm the whole way. That cell was moving east at about the same rate as I was.

I will admit to a strong dislike of starlings & grackles as they harass the nesting songbirds & woodpeckers/flickers. They're not big enough to mess with George & Gracie (the barred owl couple). PapaLew uses the Boxster method for them with my blessing.

He also says that crows only land on our property once. Funny story about that - our German import son was visiting about 8 years ago and a crow landed in a tree out front. He went out with PapaLew to "deal with it". PapaLew shot, and the bird just stood there on the branch. Son said "you missed!", and PapaLew said "no, just wait". Sure enough, about 30 seconds later the crow fell forward, feet still gripping the branch, and just hung there, dead. Dropped to the ground a day or so later. :D

My sump pump needs a break after this weekend.

I have a bunch of family coming into town this weekend and I'm hosting the meals Friday and Saturday. The food and drinks are set, but I'm looking for a really good margarita recipe to complement my Cinco de Mayo spread. I can Google it, but does anyone have a can't miss recipe they'd like to share (no mixes please)? I have the Patron already. I plan on doing my first tequila shot in nearly a decade and figured it may as well taste good.

Hey, @wxman1 are you not entertained!

So MrsWx had been wanting to see La La Land so I picked it up at RedBox on Friday and told her I had a surprise for her. Once I showed her what it was she was happy...then my body had the other surprise so we just got around to watching it. We are both all WTF right now.

I've done this one a few times -

but it's a bit strong so I've generally added simple syrup to taste.
