I married into cribbage.
So did PapaLew. :)
Fun fact - when you teach someone how to play cribbage, you also tend to teach them your strategy. We're very comparable in playing skills...once I finally convinced him that the odds on drawing the middle card in a straight are not good. Shouldn't have done that...I'd still be kicking his butt every game if I had left it alone...

Isn't that Jared in that picture? I think I'd lead with "Hey, I'm not a pedophile" before I'd be concerned about your marital status and eyesight.
It was kind of a funky picture so I wasn't really sure it was Jared. And the ring kind of stood out to me (although it apparently didn't mean a whole lot to him...).

Should I bring a 12 pack and cribbage board over?

EDIT: seriously, that sucks

Ah, more convenient than anything. Have to sit around and wait for Roto-rooter for hours and miss happy hour with the boys. The backup is limited to the corner of the laundry room which is all concrete. The bad thing is the main cleanup at the front is in the old man cave with wood floors. Better get out some tarps because plumbers are pigs.

That is just understanding odds and the risk reward. I used to be overly concerned about what I was throwing in an opponent's crib but I have gotten a lot less hung up on this. What is in my hand comes first and throwing a couple points in a crib comes up really only if it is a tie breaker between like hand combinations. I still find myself counting point differentials at times (6 for me and 2 for them = 4) but I remind myself to remember that the chances of a better hand with a likely cut are more impactful to the game.

Awwwww. I just got an E-mail from my daughter's teacher:

Good afternoon!

I am writing to inform you that Talia was chosen as our “Terrific Tiger” for April. This means that your child has shown exemplary character and the staff has really noticed. Please keep this a secret as your child will not find out until lunch time on Monday, May 1.

I always hated having to break up my hand in order to not throw something too good into the crib. I have had two 28 point hands in my cribbage life. Never was able to get that 29th point.

There is just soooo much that has to fall into place like the one missing 5 matching your jack's suit and then cutting the only card that can make your hand. The odds have to be astronomical. The odds in cutting the right card after the deal setting you up is one in 46 or 47 alone. I've never gotten a 28 hand but I have probably played much less than you have.

The odds of getting the perfect hand are somewhere around 200K if I remember correctly. I've never gotten it. I'm pretty good at getting high teens or low 20s, but not that elusive perfect hand. I only remember having the 28 once or twice. I've been playing since college; my boyfriend taught me.
