Meh. You pick up stuff as you go along. Things your kids catch, things you watch your parents go through; things you & your spouse deal with. I retain a LOT of (mostly) useless information. :)

Last time we went to the pediatrician, he thought it would be funny to show us the paper charts on all of the kids, he brought them in piled up in a wheelchair. He claimed they had to add a storage file just for us. He knows he can get away with anything, won my heart when oldest baby was in the hospital with RSV and he came and sat up with me at 11:00 pm.

They sent you home with it? I was tied to a damn IV pole for about five days. :(

When my son was on infused antibiotics for a leg infection in 5th grade it hurt him like a sumbeach during the infusion. 4x daily, about a half hour each, for 6 days. They put a hep-lock in the back of his hand, so he wasn't tied to an IV pole, but he was in the hospital for about a week. Probably thought we wouldn't do the infusions if they let him go because they hurt him so bad. That is one of the most helpless feelings on the planet...when your kid is hurting, and you have to watch them make it hurt worse.

So are you sporting a hep-lock?

PS: I'm glad you're out and apparently getting better!

My Facebook memories say it was 7 years ago our oldest was in the hospital for a week with cellulitis on IV antibiotics. She thought it was great--movies on demand, art cart comes to you, dessert with every meal.

Speaking of the last week of July. MrsWx wants to go to Oshkosh with me and thinks she will be able to camp. She will be 7months prego. I just keep telling her that we will figure it out as we get closer.

If you have good camp cots, it might be all right. We have extra sturdy ones from all of the Boy Scout trips, pretty easy to roll over in them without tipping and sometimes they seem more comfortable than our mattress that needs replacing.

I may have to invest in it for her. I can sleep anywhere so I just sleep right on the ground. Don't even use a foam mattress. I tried them a few times and it didn't ever seem to matter in my quality of sleep or how I felt so I decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

It's not a bad investment if you have a lot of visitors to your house either.

No heplock. I have a pic line in my bicep area. The infusion takes about 2.5 hours from a balloon-like thing about the size of a large orange.

Dang, that is a lot for a mystery infection to the thumb. Woof. Good thing you have a wife to make you go to the doctor. Pants and I would have been goners.

So, no hitchhiking this weekend? I can also give you an official ISUAA excuse for the volleyball outing.
Thanks for the excused absence. I may still make it but it probably isn't the best idea.

They are also nice if you plan to do more car camping. I like a Therm-a-rest at minimum for my expedition camping.

I should note that this is hardly camping. It is a large field and wooded area with 40k ish people in tents and campers. WiFi is getting better every year and there are shower houses.

I'm pretty familiar with the Oshkosh Air Show. I lived in Stevens Point for several years and the traffic would get bad by us because of it.

Much better than what he dealt with. Part of the reason it hurt so bad was that it was going into a vein in the back of his hand...and that's a lot of solution to pass through a smallish vein on a 10 year old...

I haven't had a serious IV drug in decades but remember lying in bed at North Memorial and knowing it was fully "infused" because I could taste and smell it. Thought, ah, that's weird but makes sense too.

We stayed at the Best Western in Plover a few years ago after the show going to a cabin in MN. Had pizza at a place in downtown Stevens Point that was good.

I had a constant line going because I wasn't eating/drinking...probably glucose. But I could tell when they added the meds (if I was awake) because my mouth would get this metallic taste in it. Blecch!

I was released on Monday. I'm actually working a short day today. I was sent home with home infusion therapy so I administer an IV to myself twice a day. Currently, the IV ball is sitting on an invoice on my desk.

Picking up the slack while Pants is treading water?
Have we heard from Pants since the end of Tax Season? I'm worried the IRS may have nabbed him and have him holed up in some undisclosed location.
