Our next door neighbor was on the Kansas side of KC for a soccer tourney this weekend. Just thought you'd like to know.

Hubby and the oldest have been in KC all weekend for volleyball. 60 courts set up at the convention center downtown, another 30 set up somewhere else. They were staying out by the airport so had to drive down every day. Had their first bracket match this morning at 8am and lost. :( Now they have to ref a game and will be heading home.

Just read KC's post. Hey, it's Monday. I lose track of days although all of the garbage cans out this morning should have been a reminder. Big paper on porch means Sunday or maybe some holiday.

After several tries, I think I finally rigged something up to keep the squirrels from getting inside the underneath part of our covered deck.

I was sitting outside last night grilling and sipping on a cold beverage. A squirrel climbed up the outside of the deck, tried to get into its normal hiding spots, couldn't and then stared at me. I raised my beer at him, said "I win you little bastard", and then he scurried off into the nearby tree and chittered at me.

It was, admittedly, a somewhat maniacal exchange, but damn that beer tasted really good.

I miss those big volleyball tournaments. They are just incredibly fun. My favorite was always Nike MEQ in St. Louis or Indianapolis. (I don't miss having to ref another game after being knocked out part though.)

The daughter gave up playing club volleyball this year because she wanted to focus on softball. It hurt (I was a volleyball coach once upon a time, and it's still my favorite sport) but it's about her, not me! :)

This is her first big qualifier, I think they had lots of fun. Season is finally over now, so we are just down to softball. :)

The only class hubby and I took together at ISU was volleyball. We also played co-rec together while we were there. We both love it. Although I probably haven't played in 20 years. May be a bit rusty . . .

Leath's office just sent out a campus-wide email reminding us about the "Code of Business and Fiduciary Conduct" regulations under which ISU, UI & UNI operate.

Bizarre, considering his occasionally casual relationship with all of that...

Okay, so on a similar track - I had Tab all set up for a pre-op checkup last Friday while I was in Texas, prior to being neutered a couple of weeks later.

Found out PapaLew forgot to take him and now I have to wait until the 28th to get him in for the pre-op, and have to reschedule the neutering.

Here's the question -
Should I assume it was absent-mindedness on PapaLew's part to forget the appointment (which I reminded him about before I left), and assume that he will get Tab to the vet this time (he gets off work at 2 so it's more convenient for him to take cats to afternoon appointments).

OR

Should I assume this deep-seated male fear of the general topic of neutering was at play here, and that I should resign myself to taking time off from work to handle Tab's appt & surgery?

Neutering a cat isn't a fear. Even the most testosterone-ridden man doesn't want a cat spraying all over the house.

Tommy was probably down with that--old Tommy Twelve-pack!! He probably leaned over and caught most of it in his mouth.

Somewhere, there's a picture of 6-year old Cooler sitting on a hay wagon sporting a Tommy Kramer shirt and holding two bottles of Miller Genuine Draft.

My dad's always had a sense of humor.

Looked at the time on my PC and thought it said 3:12. Then I realized it said 2:12

I have surgery schedule for Friday to remove all four of my wisdom teeth. I'm not looking forward to that. At least they are going to put me under for the procedure.

Good news today - I'm waiting on a call back from a potential employer who left a voicemail this morning about offering me a job. However, I have two other employers that are very likely to extend offers in the near future. I think I'll hear back from the 2nd company by Friday, but the 3rd company is where I'm currently interning at and the interview won't be until next week.

Anyone ever juggle multiple job offers? I think I'd like working at the 1st company but right now my first choice is the 3rd company where I'm a current intern and have been told I'm likely a leading candidate for the full-time opening. The 2nd company would be a great company to work for but would require me to work in the middle of Dallas - Fort Worth. I'm not sure I'm ready to move to the big city.

I just want to be open and honest with everyone and make sure I have enough time to fully consider my choice without burning any bridges... or declining a job offer and then not receiving others.

Location, pay, bennies, long-term goals, advancement potential...lots of things to compare. But one thing a lot of people have discovered: if you don't like the job or the people you work with, better compensation may not be worth it. :)
