Exactly. I have always been taught that the gun is only loaded and a round chambered if you intend to fire it. Just like your finger is not on the trigger unless you intend to fire very soon.

My grandparents had that toy at their house! I loved playing with that!My daughter always loved the toys I had when I was a kid over anything new that's been put out. We played with Lincoln logs and tinker toys a bunch. Pretty much anything you can choke on. One of her favorite toys was something I grabbed from my parents house when they moved to town:
It has a drawbridge, a staircase that moves to reveal a secret hiding place, a trap door leading to a dungeon and a spring loaded flag on the top of one of the towers was always used to mete out justice to villains. I played with that thing for countless hours as a kid and father.

Yes, plus the very first thing you should do any time you touch a handgun is pop the clip and check the status of the chamber. You have to know whether there is a bullet in the chamber.

Good news: Contractors are finally starting to install our new roof today.
Bad News: I get to look forward to 2 months of finding nails all around my yard
It looks like it may be a restaurant kinda night. I have some ribs ready to eat tonight, but they may have to wait for tomorrow night. There's nothing quite as relaxing as trying to eat/think/converse inside your house with a roof being installed.

My 9 year old plays with the Magnatiles all the time. I am constantly amazed that he has had these things for like 3 or 4 years and he never builds the same thing twice. The creativity is amazing. I had sticker shock when Mrs. Velo wanted to get them for him but "No Ragrets".Lincoln Logs FTW
I still have my Lincoln Logs and my boy plays with those too.
I also got out my dad's erector set earlier this year and built a school project with my 12 year old out of them. It's in pretty good shape considering it is probably from around 1947-49.

A friend of mine has something similar that I borrowed the last time. Despite having the roofers and myself sweep the yard with magnets, I was still finding nails months later. I think we ended up having nails in gutters and on the roof that rain washed down after the fact.

Don't discount the gift idea. The magnet worked really well.
I was just commenting that we kept finding nails in places after we had cleared them. The only thing that made sense was that the nails were either on the roof or in the gutters and made their way down after wind or rain displaced them.
we had a large magnet on twine that we used in the haymow after they redid the barn roof. Nails forever, it seemed like.
I think it would be more fun to take the chance of throwing nails out of the lawnmower discharge chute. It brings a whole new dimension to "Get off my lawn"

They could also have been stepped on just enough that they wouldn't readily come up when the magnet came by but worked their way out later.
