I am SO grateful I never had to deal with that...
It aint us that's for sure. Part of me wishes we would send them to the elementary that they are supposed to by where we live so they would have to be on the bus by a certain time but I am also afraid by how much we would likely miss the bus. Instead they get 20ish minutes more and we drive them to their original school that is still closer to us.

The bus stop was directly across the quiet residential street from us when they were in upper elementary grades. Prior to that, they went to a home daycare situation before and after school, and the proprietor walked them down to the jr/sr high every day. The buses picked up the elementary school kids and took them to the three surrounding towns (jr/sr high was in Huxley, elems at that time were in Cambridge, Slater, & Kelley, which is now closed).

This just showed up on my FB feed, and given my comments in here and in the Daylight Saving Time thread, it made me laugh with how timely it is:

So pissed and pretty worried...had my pops come to visit for the weekend, went out to eat last night and started getting a headache late last night. Tested just to make sure and sure enough, positive for the 'vid. Staying in separate places but we were at a table and in a car for extend periods of time.

Mild symptoms but terrified that I'm the one who got immunocompromised/older family sick. They're boosted but you never know with immunocompromised folks.

End rant.

Being in line to pick up your kids 45+ minutes before they get out of school is one thing. But what psychopaths' have their lives so put together that they are lined up 20+ minutes before they can drop them off?

I hear ya. It might help to know that Lew had covid, despite getting the immuno-compromised mega vaccine from his oncologist...but the only way he knew he had it was that he tested positive. He didn't even have a headache or sniffles. He tested because I had a "cold" which turned out to be covid. The vaccinations don't always stop the virus, but they sure as hell keep it under control.
I stand by those vaccines 1000%.

It seems it is something we are going to have to live with from here on out. I know there have been outbreaks in my areas for the last month.

I agree. It's going to be like the flu. It will have more impact on the elderly and the very young. But the more that healthy adults immunize, the less chance it spreads to the vulnerable. I just wish there weren't so damn many people scared of a poke in the arm. :(

And I'm going to stop there to avoid caving RTT.

Yeah and that's something I 100% get.

The only silver lining is they've likely been around all sorts of people that have/had it and I'm trying to just realize that.

The stupidity of it is of course is I'm about the most 'careful' (not terribly cautious, just don't go out much and don't interact with many people in general) and I'm the one who got it.

I'm currently "suiting up" for the game, and I'm wondering if I might be overdoing it. But, considering my seat is in the nosebleeds, I'll chance it.
