Learjet is officially dead. It was obvious it was coming but still sad. Glad I got to work there for a couple of years, too bad the deck was stacked against us on bringing the 85 to market.

I'm taking the vixen down to DM area this weekend for her birthday, she wants to go to the Waterfront seafood restaurant in Ankeny. Thought we'd visit the Botanical Center Saturday.....anybody got any ideas for other interesting places to go?

Worked on the Botanical Center design a lifetime ago right after I graduated from ISU and worked at the now long defunct Smith-Voorhees-Jensen Architects in DSM.

I've graded about 11. If it's 3/18, or probably 4-5 out of 18 when I'm done, it's not great.
It's transparent stuff, too.

Who could possibly tell that a student's writing voice could be different.
Or, if you're a really disinterested student, maybe turning in something full of details we didn't talk about is a tip off.

It is often easy to tell it is happening but much tougher to prove. Kudos to you for pinning some of these down.

I've got it down to a science.
One essay is tricky. I'll darn well guarantee he cheated, but his is trickier to find.

EDIT: On the other hand, I've caught dozens over the years, so I have a lot of practice.

One has won himself a teachable moment rather than a zero. He has a bibliography and fessed up that he should have included quotes and stuff.
We'll see if he's scared straight, so to speak.

Round 2 with the ISU Writing Center is a no-go.
Not just me. They cancelled the job posting/search altogether.

So, back to the drawing board to have a home into the fall.

I know you guys are talking about blood/plasma donations, but as far as sticks are concerned...
I'll give them a second chance. I won't give a third. And I'll stop them in their tracks if they try to put an IV in the back of my hand.

When I was in the hospital they needed to blood every morning. The last morning they needed to get blood I had 2 nurses trying to find a vein. This was like day 4 so my arm looked liked I was a junkie. They couldn't find a spot so they tried finding a veln in the back of my hand. In my head I was like go get someone from the lab. They did and that guy found a vein having to go high up on my arm. I have issues with needles so when I get sticked without the end result not being accomplished I'm not a happy camper.

Yup.
Seriously, all anyone had to do was work with lecture notes or their book for this one. I suspect he has no notes, and that led to this little panic move.

I've had good luck so far with the pokes at the donations.

My best with that was about 20 years ago when I got blood drawn at a physical for whatever reason. I have a very good vein in the elbows so there should be no issues, but the person that day just couldn't get it, and I eventually started passing out as I could feel the needle moving around in my arm.

They got me a Coke and I learned the value of immediate blood sugar.

Had to reschedule two days later with a different person and I don't think I even felt the poke.
